Losing Weight/Feeling Good

Recommended Posts

I went to my first post-op doctors appointment (I was banded on 3/18/2008). I lost 20 lbs. I feel pretty good and Doctor Wood says my wounds are healing nicely. The largest incision where the port is located is still pretty sore but he says that is normal. I'm a little bummed because he says my first fill will be in 6 weeks. He did say, however, that my band is restricted so I will still lose weight. Not being able to eat has been a challenge (in fact I cried on Easter) but I just take it day by day. I plan to attend a support group at my Docs office. I think I need a place to discuss "emotional eating" with people who are going thru the same thing I am.

Hi Jalilsaunite--

Congrats on the 20lbs. I was banded on 3/19 and will be going to see my surgeon for the first post-op on Tues. I'm pretty sure I've lost on all these Clear Liquids I'm drinking but won't know until I get there.

Hi, i was banded on March 6, 2008 (I don't think I will forget that day) and I have lost a total of 20 pounds. I felt horrible right afterwards with the pain where the incision was and still not 100% recovered but i am over feeling sorry for myself and feeling optimistic. My first fill is on the 6th of april...so i am a little scared. Good luck to all!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
