I recently met with my nutritionist and still waiting for final approval from Insurance. I realize this is very important for my health but find there is some fear in accpeting such a drastic life change. I've tried so many programs before had sucess and failure but failing here is even more difficult to handle. The food and how I have to eat for the rest of my life is something I hope I can do. It's like being at the edge of a cliff being chased and asking myself jump or get caught. Very difficult mentally not knowing if I will be successful.

hi,

welcome to LBT. the band is a great TOOL, but you do have to work with it.

it IS a drastic life change, but think of all the great things that will result in those changes you will have made. look for some threads around here labeled NSV (non scale victory) - crossing legs, fitting in a size 16, fitting in a size TEN, no problems on airplanes, the list is endless.

good luck and it truly is worth it.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
