Hi...congratulations. I, too, am just beginning the process. I'm on the 6 month diet as a requirement for insurance. How long did you have to wait? It seems like it will take forever.

:thumbup:Thanks! And welcome to you to! I go in for orientation on Wed. and then set up my first appt. with the Dr. I think it takes 30-60 days to actually have the procedure, but alot of it will depend on me, because I have to quit smoking, and be smoke free for a certain amount of time before the Dr. will do the procedure. but I am VERY motivated , and know I can do it! Good luck to you!

I am just three days out of lap band surgery and there are a gauntlet of emotions that i am still going through. Should I tell my "friends" that I cheated and had surgery to lose weight? That question was taken out of my hands by a teenage son who mentioned it to several people that I had lap band surgery and that is the reason he had to miss half a day of school - he had to take care of the farm while we were at the hospital. I haven't been out of the house yet but I am feeling pretty good after three days and about ready to show my face around town. It will be interesting to see what kind of reactions I get from people - we live in a small rural community and we all know how small towns gossip.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
