Recommended Posts

I would love to find others that are going through the same stages of lap banding that I am. I was banded on 3/18 and was released from the hospital 3/19. I weighed 250 at my pre op appt and today I weigh 239 and going down daily almost. lol. I am currently on a Liquid Protein diet that includes soft cream of ........ Soups and would like to hear from others. How your dieting is going and weigh loss. We could all be a great support network together. Hope to hear from you.

I was banded on 03/18 in WA. Weight loss isn't going very well right now. I was down 20lbs as of Monday. Then I was able go to mushies. I've put 5lbs back on this week. I'm so irritated. I keep telling my self that this is a healing time and that the real weight loss will happen after I get my fill (04/21). But it's still frustrating! How are you doing?

rkilbury,

I am doing very well since being banded. I am sticking to my 550 calories daily or very close by but I do find that its hard to get enough in with such few calories each day. I have only lost 14 pounds as of today and thought I would loss a little quicker but I am good with my results. I too look forward to getting my first fill but no date set as of yet. I am scheduled to have my staples out Friday April 4th, but I may go in on Monday so that can take a look because my skin is a little irritated around staples so maybe they will take them out early. I will keep my fingers crossed. How are you doing?

Hi Rklberry and Paula, I too was banded on March 18. At my first appointment with the doctor I weighed 292, before surgery 272, and the dietition 2 weeks later 262. I didn't have the staples they put in and have to remove, I have the ones that dissolve(?). Good luck on Monday Paula08. Today I was finally able to get in a full .5 liter of Water within 30 minutes. It usually took me all day.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
