Eeeek!!!

Recommended Posts

I will be 2 weeks banded on Thursday and I guess I am having an episode. I am terrified that everything I do could cause this band to slip. How common is this? I cannot afford another surgery and I am really on pins and needles about this. Anybody give me some peace of mind???:nervous

I think that's a pretty common fear in all of us. My doctor stitched my stomach around my band and he stitched the port to a muscle. I just hope he used good thread.

HRV, I still have fear and I am 11 motnhs post op..I think it is a normal reaction. Once you have your first fill and the Dr. tells you everything is ok it will give you peace of mind...everytime I go for a check- up or a fill I feel so much better knowingeverything is where it should be :D

I had a barium swallow yesterday just to make sure everything is where it should be. Of course, I've had a slip in the past and been re-banded. Due to having been through that, I would think it would be very normal to be concerned about that. Thankfully, the radiologist said everything looks perfect, not even any pouch dilation (whew!). I felt like such a baby when he was over and done in less than 5 minutes and so sure everything was perfect, but I just needed the reassurance for myself. :D You're perfectly normal and this too shall lessen and lessen as you get adjusted to your new band.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
