Vitamins!!!

Is anyone having problems taking Vitamins? ??

I've never been a real pill taker. I've been able to take my B1's fine because theyre small, but for some reason I cant take these calcium citrate pills. I bought the smaller ones and stil cut those in half. Because I have to take 1200mg a day, that means I have to swallow 12 pieces. I cant get them down. I gag everytime I try.

Can anyone recommend anything that will help me??:confused2:

JDUB0414 I bought some liquid Calcium at the health food store since they are usually so large and I didn't want to have to cut them into halves. The liquid I got is orange flavored and also contains Vitamin D and magnesium which the lady in the store recommended. Makes it much easier to get down...Kathy

I take Emergen-C Bone Health, which is powder that dissolves into a berry-flavored drink. Yum. But if you need 1200 mg per day, you'll have to do something else. Taking 5 packets a day would get rather expensive!

What about Viactiv chews? You'd only need 2-3 chews per day, and they are yummy.

Hi there! I take 2 chewable vitamins (they're Kroger generic brand) & for Calcium I take 3 Viactiv chocolate chews. I let them sit on the top of my mouth and melt since they're chewy. They're 500 mg of calcium and also contain Vitamins d & k.

jdu, I am taking calcium citrate with magnseium & Vitamin D chewables by KAL which I got from a health store. They are each 500mg so I guess 1 1/2 would give you the mg you need. They are mixed fruit flavor so they aren't that bad.

I also have some Centrum chewable Multivitamins. I don't particularly care for those but they are tolerable. Those are orange flavored. I got those from Walgreens.

Hope this helps!

I found some chewable Multi Vitamins online which are specifically made for "bandsters". They are called BUILDING BLOCKS, I'm not sure of the website but you can Google it. They were the most inexpensive (less than $20 a month) and they have the most amount of units in them than all the other ones I compared them with.

Good Luck!:w00t:

Tums are recommended by my doc as a good source of Calcium. NatureMade also makes chewable calcium. Look at your pharmacy. There are lots of good sources for chewable calcium and many other vitamins/minerals.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
