Looking for clothing exchange in Dallas

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know of a clothing exchange in the Dallas area? I have boxed up all of my size 20 clothes, and my 18s soon will join them. I'd really like to find a clothing exchange, because I'm sure someone else out there could use them along their journey. No one wants to buy new clothes while they're still losing weight!

We talked on here for a while and even suggested to the website that we start an exchange among members, but nothing ever came of it. I know that some of the support groups designate 1 night every couple of months for everyone to bring their clothes and swap - you may want to see if there are any support groups in your area that do this. Let me know what you find out - I too am interested!

Funny this should come up because I posted yesterday about Spring (closet) cleaning. I mentioned something about having "swap meets". Too bad we're about the same size (I'm now into mostly 16's). I'd love to find someone who has an abundance of 16's they'd like to part with!

You may want to check with this church Munger Place United Methodist Church. They had a listing for a clothing exchange on craigslist in April... They may be doing another one.

This is in Dallas. If you're not in Dallas, you may want to check with a local church or community organization. It's not just about saving money these days, but even about recycling so that these clothes don't end up in land fills.

I also wanted to say, that I rooting for all of you. Taking charge of your health and well-being in this way is very courageous. Way to go! :)

I've been using Ebay. I set up a "clothing fund" for my sales ($700 in there so far) and am using that account to purchase new items in smaller sizes - I plan to onsell them again as I drop in sizes.

If your young enough and your clothes are stylish, I take mine to buffalo exchange and/or plato's closet and sell them there, whatever they don't buy ( if it is too old or has any marks on it) they will donate to the local organizations for poor people so you don't have to drag anything back home.

I'm putting all my nicer clothes off to the side as I shrink, just for this purpose, but I'm in Corpus Christi. I would LOVE to swap clothes. I started out in a size 24 and am now in a 16 so I have an assortment of clothes.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
