Must be crazy- 60 miles

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I just signed up for the Beast cancer 3-day walk. I can't believe it 3-days 20 miles per day is this insane?? I occasionally work out but this is going to be a challenge. I could really use your words of encouragement especially as I begin my training.

Thanks.

(By the way my ticker is probably way off. My current wt. is 165 lbs.)

That is great! I had a coworker who did that last year. She said it was tough but she had a great time. She also lost a lot of weight training for it. Good luck, you will do great!

Good Luck!! I am doing the Avon two day walk in Boston on May 17th and 18th. Walking everyday has really helped with the weight loss. It is so easy to drink all the Water that I am supposed to.

Yep, insane, lol! I just ran 10 miles this morning in a fun run and right now I feel like I've had my knee cartilage sucked out through a straw, my spine compressed and my hips filled with ground glass!

But good luck! The physical agony (and probaby premature aging) is well worth the feeling of accomplishment.

I'm doing the 3-day in Washington DC, October 3-5. I have always wanted to do it but knew that I couldn't before because of my weight. After dropping 90 pounds so far, I think I can make it. I'm very excited about it and I have even formed a team. Good luck to you with your training and the walk. YOU CAN DO IT!!!

I want to do this too... but scared that it will be 'too much' for me and I'll be unable to finish! There isn't one in my city anyway... so I'd have to travel...

Yea, you!!!! :cursing: That is one of my goals for the coming year. Right now I know I couldn't do it, but I am already walking and getting in shape to be able to do it next year. Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
