I'm having trouble with my liquid meds

Recommended Posts

I'm on a lot of meds, and taking them in liquid form is just horrible. I've tried the syringe, putting them in applesauce, yogurt, oatmeal. All sorts of liquids to help it down. Please help.

At Walmart and most other drug stores they have a flavor additive they can mix it with, they also sell kits to mix it in at home. It's probably got a bit of sugar in it, but since we are banded and you need to take your meds, you can probably account those calories into your diet and be ok. Talk to your pharmacist!

I was banded on 3/20 and I now can take pills. I cut them up and go slowly but I can't stomach my liquid meds...I only take 1 small pill at a time. The capsules are harder, but goes down without a problem. Taking meds is definitely a challenge...

Do you mean 3/20 of 2007? I'll never make it that long! When did you first try to take pills?

Thanks for your help.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
