Bolingbrook, wow isn't that where Drew Peterson is from? Yikes, stay away from him. I know that is off topic but hope you get a good response from your query. Support is the name of the game.

Yeah, thats the Bolingbrook that Mr Peterson is from. He lives about 5 minutes from me, but I dont think you need to be scared of him...unless you marry him.

LOL, that is too funny. Is he really as big an ahole as he appears to be on tv. It appears he really wants to be caught. He can't keep his puss off the tube. I love true crime stories. That is about all I read. Yea you may not want to become too close to him. Has the media frenzy abated now?

Congrats. on the weight loss by the way. Did you know either of his wives? I am not sure how big Bolingbrook is. I am in southern Calif.

I dont know him personally, but I do work with a girl that he tried to pick up at a local sports bar. I guess the mourning period is over for him

Boy he has got a lot of nerve. I had heard that he was going to go on a radio show to get a date. The station would have a huge lawsuit because people around him seem to have really bad luck. It is too bad, he gives cops a bad name. I am sure he was always a dirty cop. His story fascinates me though. How I would love to get in his brain and figure our what makes him tick. A megalomaniac no doubt. He also seems to like them young. You have to feel sorry for his kids. There lives are ruined.

I'm in! I agree, support is so important, and crucial to our individual success. So, lets get it together!! Make a date, and I'll be there.

We have a group that meets for lunch about once a month. We are in the Chicago friends thread. Last time we had lunch at the Promanade. I'm in Romeoville. ~Mandy

I am still getting all my ducks in a row for surgery (hoping for August/September 2008), but would love to join a local support group. I live a few miles from Drew Peterson also, north of Boughton behind SportsAuthority.

res2987..we are so close! And guess what, my neighbor just had the lapband surgery about 8 weeks ago. I was thinking about a Friday night....the 1st? the 2nd or third Friday of the month. What do you think?

Hi Tomasa and ~Mandy - Friday's are bad because we have my 8 year old granddaughter on Friday nights. Hate to take time away from her since that's been the tradition since she was 1 month old! She lives in Yorkville so we only get to see her that one night a week.

Tues., Wed., or Thurs. would great for me. I get home from work at 6:00 p.m. and can meet up with the group by 6:15 or so. I work downtown Chicago, so I can't exactly do lunch unless it's on the weekend. Sounds like we have 4 or 5 people within a 3 or 4 mile radius between BB and Romeo. Could be a nice little support group to get started. I'm the only one pre-surgery though. : ( I am working with Dr. Lahmann at Silver Cross and they have a support group after surgery, but a group closer to home would be more convenient. Where did you have your surgery?

Let me know what you think!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
