Anybody seen her? :)

I'm sure she's here watching... as it is what I do sometimes. It's sometimes hard to watch others have so much success on these threads when it's not happening to you. I gained almost 7 lbs in a week eating around 1,000 calories a day. There is obviously other things at play here in our bodies (other than what we eat and how much we work out). The trick here is to not give up. Keep checking in and stay motivated.

Oh gosh, you girls are so sweet. This thread actually made me cry because you missed me!

minock hit the nail on the head. I haven't been coming around because I was getting depressed seeing everyone do so well when my doctor said he wouldn't even give me a fill until 8 weeks out. I know, I know...that's petty of me, and I really am happy for all of you who are doing so well but it makes me feel like a big loser and NOT in a good way. =)

I have gained back 12 of the 20 pounds I lost during the liquid phase of my post-op diet so I have been very depressed. I called my surgeon's office Tuesday and BEGGED to get a fill before 8 weeks. I called my surgeon's office Thursday and PLEADED to get a fill before 8 weeks. FINALLY, today they called me back and said they would do it at six weeks. I guess they figured if they didn't agree I wouldn't stop harassing them and they were right! lol

So, now that I have a little light at the end of my tunnel I was finally able to come back and read the boards. I've missed you girls and hopefully in another couple of weeks I'll have some success stories of my own. *hugs*

*Warm Hugs* Gibson, I'm sorry to hear you're feeling so down, but I do understand what you are saying, it is hard to come here and not compare yourself to others. But just remember we all are going to lose weight differently, you need to move at your own pace! I'm glad your doctor is going to give you a fill at 6 weeks. Please let us know how you do, ok? Stick with us here in the Victorious Valentines, that's what we're here for, support during good times and the bad. We'll all have some of both. I'm sure once you get some restriction, you'll be telling us all about your success stories!

Hang in there sweetie!

Yay!

Gibson, we need you around! Isn't that what we're here for? To listen to each other and support each other? I believe you would support me if I came here depressed. But we can't support you if you're not here!

I believe you are going to do this! You don't have to believe it, just believe that we believe it! Your sense of humor and honesty are just what I need when I come here! So keep it coming!

I won't get a fill til 8 weeks! It's frustrating. I've lost a good bit, but look where I started from. Now that I've lost, I have less restriction. I'm going to see if I can wait til 8 weeks. If not, I may have to pull a Gibson on them. :w00t:

I have also been depressed becasue I've not been losing. I was told NOT to get on the scale at all...well... I get on the scale too much... lol..whenever I use the bathroom...before...after...when I brush my teeth, when my sons are brushing theirs, when they are using the potty, when they are in the tub, whe I get in the shower...before I put make-up on ...

...I'm obsessed...MY DH has threatened to throw it away....lol

That fill is going to get you on the losers bench again...

And welcome back... I have missed your posts!

Welcome back Gibson!!!:cursing: A lot of us gain or stay stagnant after the liquid phase, but it is only temporary.Good luck on your first fill. It will give you all the fullness and motivation you need to persevere.Remember it still is a loss and not a quadruple gain. Set backs occur and than a fill occurs. It is the beauty of the band as a weight loss tool where all other diets failed all of us. Can't wait to hear how you are doing after the fill.

Gibson, I felt the same way. I didn't come on here for almost a week because I was too depressed. I wasn't losing any weight for almost two weeks. I would go up two pounds, down two pounds. It was so depressing and I thought I was going to fail at this. But, I think its BS that your doc wants to make you wait 8 weeks. WHAT??? I've heard of 6 weeks, which I think is still too steep, but 8?? You are definitely going through bandster hell right now and as soon as you get your fill you will snap out of it and be like, "oh, that's all I needed". As soon as I got my fill on Tuesday everything changed. As soon as I saw the weight starting to come off again I changed my way of thinking about this whole thing and when Losingjusme told me that "now isn't time to lose weight, it's for healing" I should have just listened to her wise words, but I wanted to see that stupid scale drop. She kept saying "it will come" and after getting the fill I feel so much better and you will too sweety!

Glad to see your back! I also have to wait 8 weeks for a fill, so you are not alone. I however think I feel some restriction to some extent already. I think when I finally go in next Friday, I am going to ask for a conservative fill.

Anyway, we are all here in the good times and the bad. I went through a little stagnant period for about two weeks after week one. Then as I started to get back to my exercise routine and making sure I'm trying my best to eat the right things the weight started dropping again. It'll happen for you too. Everyone is different and that is what makes this world so great!

Take Care!

Hi Gibson! Have you had your fill? I had my first and didn't feel any differently. There is some controvery on what size of band that I have so they were conversative with my fill. I get another one this Friday. Hopefully that one will work better. I have been doing low carb and I am losing now... just VERY slowly.

I had my surgery with TLC Medical Edge in Texas. They sell a "package" deal with the surgery and fills. I get as many fills as I need within a 6 month period. It is included in the price. I had my first fill at 5 weeks. They said they only recommend waiting 6 weeks because most people are still sore around their port and they do a lot of pushing and proding in that area. I am getting my second fill at 7 weeks. I can have them every 2 weeks if necessary. They want me to get to my "sweet spot" during this 6 month period. I am thankful that they are so lenient with us. I don't know why some of the drs. are waiting so long to give fills.

Now, our surgeons don't do the fills. The surgeons contract for TLC so TLC handles all the fills as well as the follow up support. That might have something to do with it.

Cindy

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
