I was not prepared for this kind of pain! Surgery went well only took me 12 minutes to wake up afterwards. But I did not wake up floaty and happy!! Major pain and cranky. Didn't get to bed until 5 am and couldn't get out of bed when I woke. I couldn't e en lift my arm to get my cpap mask off so I could yell for help! To my other 4-2 bandsters I hope you feel better than I do right now. :bolt:

Dogluver: Hang in there. I think the first 3 days post op were the hardest for me. I was banded on the April 1st and today actually went on my first outing, to the local GNC store.

Thinminnie: You went back to work already? Wow, I am due back on Monday but I think I might wait a few more days. I think at least a full week for recovery is what my body is asking for. How did it go? What kind of work do you do? Big Hugs!!

I am a nurse, but luckily I do not do patient care. It did not go as good as I had hoped though. I was so tired and could not take my pain med because it makes me sleepy. By the time I was done I had made myself nauseated from the pain. I hope Monday goes better. I recommend if you can take the time off then do. I just dont have that option right now.

Thin Minnie:

Aww, sorry you had to go back so soon. I hope you get some rest today. I think the most important thing right now is to let your body heal and prevent throwing up so that you will not have any complications. Here's another big hug from one Texas gal to another!! HUGS!!!

:thumbup:Hi

Am an Aussie and was banded on 2/4 (4/2 for you) - had 2 nights in hospital which is pretty much standard procedure here, could have stayed another if i had wanted to - glad to get home though. Was given til the 20th off from work - i will go back on the16th. I wish you all the best with the start of this new journey. I am truly amazed at how good I feel physically and mentally and hope all improves for those still a little 'tender'.

Noella: Wow, you will have plenty of time to recover. I like the way they do things over there in Aussieland. Is your time off counted as sick time or vacation time? It seems like we are too rushed here in the US. My surgery was an outpatient procedure, I was in and out of there in less than 5 hours.

We are very lucky - private health fund paid for a huge % of it and I am off on paid sick leave. Feel like it has made the start much easier for me. I felt great after surgery and am feeling fine now - but 5 hours - wow!!! Also 14lbs since banding - awesome, hope my first drs appoinyment on the 10th is half as good.

I was banded April 2 too!! I stayed overnight. I'm a Type 1 diabetic (have to take insulin shots everyday) and I was having low blood sugars throughout the night. But, i came home the next day at 11:00 a.m. and was feeling great! I was a little sore, but nothing that two advil didn't handle. I have a bottle of percocets but I have not had to take one at all. I'm so amazed at how good I feel already! I started exercising on the elliptical machine yesterday...did 30 minutes. I think I may go back to work this Thursday or Friday. I'm getting kind of bored at home and I like to be around and interact with people. I have my first post-op appt tomorrow. I can't wait to get on the scale and move to the next food stage! But honestly, I don't be that hungry. Nothing a shake can't fix!!

slim wow! Youre exercising already?? I am halfway through my first day back at work and I think I will be leaving early . A little run down, ( I am coming down with a cold) and having still some irritating port pain. I did call my surgical center said it is okay to take airborne as long as I let it go flat, so hopefully I can fight this cold fast.

It's good to feel good!! Started exercising on the 5th, walked in the evening, added exercise bike the next day 5 min in the am then 10 the next morning and 5 that evening - gets a bit pushy on the port site so will have to raise the seat right up. Hope the cold gets better D - couldn't imagine having to sneeze and cough too much yet, let us know your first weigh in results Slim

I was banded on 4/2 and started walking last evening (1 mile) then (2 miles) tonight. Still having some port site discomfort, but only needed pain med twice today. I won't go back to work until the 23rd. Since I am unable to work with any weight restrictions (I'm a nurse), my surgeon won't lift my 10# weight restriction for at least 3 weeks. So far I have lost 12# with absolutely no hunger!!! I did have cravings tonight when my husband was grilling hamburgers, I asked for a small piece of one, chewed it and spit it out just to have the flavor. That actually satisfied my craving.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
