LBWannabe 1 Posted May 16, 2012 Phew. $100 is manageable. $500 gave me palpitations! Any BWH / Faulkner folks get worked up at BWH but have their surgery at Faulkner? BWH is way more convenient for me for appts, etc, but I know a ton of people there. For privacy reasons, I would prefer to have the surgery at Faulkner since it would involve an overnight stay. Private versus double rooms are a bonus as well!
JenniferInBoston 0 Posted May 17, 2012 I actually had to pay $500. But maybe they reduced the fee? It's the same fee regardless of who the MD is. It allows you to have access to program resources such as the nutritionist post surgery. If I remember correctly, I had to pay $100 upfront and then had to make sure the rest was paid prior to the surgery being scheduled. I believe you should be able to get your work up done at BWH and then have the surgery at Faulkner. I actually see my surgeon for followup visits at both locations. It's the same program so it shouldn't matter. If I had to do it all over, I totally would have the surgery at Faulkner (no private room at BWH).

Missy281 2 Posted May 17, 2012 Oh really? I guess I misunderstood the women on the phone (sorry for the confusion!).... Thank you for letting us know!!!
LBWannabe 1 Posted June 4, 2012 Missy, have you gotten any closer to a decision? I am seeing Dr. Vernon tomorrow, but at this point in time I think I am leaning towards the vertical sleeve gastrectomy. I will see what Dr. Vernon says though. For those who are still curious, the current fee is $550, but this includes lifetime follow up and support through the groups and department. While I hate paying so much, this seems like a good investment to me!
