I find that I loose weight in spurts. Otherwise I stay within 3 pounds. With all this I have lost around 5-6 pounds every month since surgery, so no complaining.

This past week was hard since we celebrated the Jewish New Year. Alot of company - alot of food. I must say I was really proud of myself - only had one very small episode, otherwise I "nibbled" my portions.

By the time I finished my liquid phase, I thought my jaws forgot how to chew. Just remember this is only temporary!!! It is worth the struggle. It gives you a very good head start.

Tova,

Did you ever have months that you didn't lose weight? Is 5-6 pounds a month an average for you? I have had almost 2 months without loss now. I don't feel like a fill will do it. I'm hoping my body is just re-adjusting and will finally kick in and work the way it's supposed to....but boy, oh boy, it's frustrating.

I think that your body goes through a loss spurt and then it plateaus. Have you had a big loss in the last few months? If so then your body is readjusting to itself and if you keep on the program you will soon see a loss.

It can definitley be depressing at times, especially when you feel that you are being good!!!

I am sure it will soon show

you can do this, have you tried to switch things around and try different things like Soups? Its 14 on the liquids and Soups and the third week should be mushies, right? (geez you'd think I remember). what about crushed ice in your Protein drinks? Keep drinking Water too

I thought we could just have shakes & Clear Liquids. Can we have Soups like Tomato cream soups ect. as lond as there's nothing in it??

I dont have our hospitals program with me now but I know that they follow Allergans specifications pretty closely. Here is a link to their website

Lapband.com - The First Few Weeks After Surgery

they say no to the cream soups but thin broth like soups okay. Ive used a sieve like colander with tiny holes to strain foods/soups so I still get the full flavor. You are almost at the end of your two weeks and you must have your post-op soon so talk to her about this.

did you get the big packet from your inital nutritionist meeting? We all have the same protocol. That spells out the entire diet.

Then you move onto 2 weeks soft Protein (cottage cheese, cream of wheat, yogurt, tunafish etc)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
