Hey everyone. I just want to say that I "think" I've made the decision to pursue the band. Think meaning, I hope i don't talk myself out of it.. LOL

I went to an info session in Nov. and called today to make an appt. with Dr. V and she is booked till April?!?!?! So then I called and tried to get an appt. with Dr. T.. (sorry so bad with last names) and she said she would have to call me back in the morning to give me an appt. ... Is this normal?? How long after the inital consult can I have my surgery? Granted everything is in order and goes smoothly. I don't want to wait 6 months, I may lose my nerve..

Sandy )

Yeah Dr. Vernon books up long in advance, if you're still looking for a surgeon I suggest Dr. Robinson, I had an appointment two weeks after I called and asked for one, but whoever you go with I'm sure you'll have a great and positive experience!

That's EXACTLY how I ended up with Dr. Robinson. It all depends on how flexible your schedule is, but I started the process and had surgery in less than 6 weeks.....had all of my testing done, etc. I was able to make my work schedule around any appointments they could give me. (It helps that I work nearby and have flexibility) If you're looking to do this sooner, I strongly recommend Dr. Robinson. He's not at all personable and kind of reminds me of that autistic doctor on Grey's Anatomy, BUT he is a great surgeon--Harvard educated and very good at what he does.

hello and welcome to all the newbies! I spoke with Dr V Monday about her schedule, she has been very busy and she also does other surgeries besides WLS. So if you need your gallbladder or hernia repaired she’s a great choice. No its not easy to get an appt but I have a few other Dr who are all topnotch and that is something that I found comes with the territory.

I find if I plan ahead I can get what I want. (i.e. I book my appt before I leave the office).

Also just about everyone loves their own surgeon and I think its hard pressed finding someone who will not recommended their own surgeon. Personally I think you are in good hands with the whole team at B& W/Falkner.

Please feel free to join us next Tuesday. The support group meetings is about 2/3 pre-op and 1/3 post op and its always good to see new faces.

Thanks everyone, I just called and was able to get in with Dr. Robinson AND the nutritionist on Feb. 23rd. So excited and nervous about this. I won't be able to make the Jan. meeting, because I will be working 3-11 that day, however I will try to make the Feb. meeting. ;))

I'm... not sure if I'm still coming. I'm on my pre-op diet, and I have an appointment at 1 p.m. for the results of the sleep study. So I'd be in the area all day ( i live on the south shore) so I'd be walking around all day with my pre-cooked dinner, 4 packs of carnation instant Breakfast, trying to find 8 oz. of 1% milk. Though... I wonder if the cafeteria has some...

Jay,

Sit tight and I'll bring some with me!! :Dancing_wub: I have an appointment in the South end with a teacher at 4:00 and will most likely be hanging out in the foyer by 5:30 or so myself. (I, too, live on the South shore and won't be driving home in between....) Just an FYI: McDonalds has 1% milk, as does Dunkin Donuts. But don't agonize over the diet and everything being perfect. If you get the right milk, great....if not, it's not going to kill you!! Don't allow yourself to ruin your life over a few carnation instant breakfast shakes. Heck, change things up a little and eat the dinner for lunch. :wink2:

I will be there tonight. I totally forgot until a few minutes ago and am glad Jay posted. (I actually made a date and had to cancel....oh, the single life!!) Anyone else coming???

Ooh, thanks for the suggestions, I will definitely scope out a dunkin or mcdonald's!

I'll see you there!

Jay,

I strongly suggest a drive thru window---keeps the idea of ordering bad foods at bay. :wink2:

It was gret seeing everyone at the meeting tonight. I was really feeling down, had a big unfill and now a slight refill, am having a hard time feeling "restriction" and have not been totally with the program. I hope seeing and hearing from everyone will help me refocus again. I have gotten this far and really want to see the success all the way.

Hi Tova,

you did seem quiet at the meeting. I'm sorry that you were not feeling your best. But you have come a long way and you will continue your journey. Keep the faith. You have many more successes to conquer.
