Another Chance?

 I had my surgery with Dr. Kuri in Mexico and it was a great experience. I must say however, that I have a 9.75 band and have had two fills. I am up to only 2.5 CC's and aside from the 14 lbs from the liquid diet, I haven't lost anyting thing else. It's been three months and I feel I am wasting time and money. I still can eat alot even though I am watching what I eat and taking daily walks. Should I go back for a third fill or look elsewhere?

Sounds like you need more fill. I guess you can go back to the Dr in Mexico or find another Dr to do your fills.

For reference:

I have approx 7.75 cc's in my 10 cc band and I do not have good restriction yet either. I am four months post op.

I do not pay for my fills. I have had eight. First 2cc's, next several were 1cc, one of .25 cc and last of .5cc's. Looks like I need over 8 cc's for restriction. I am ok with the fact my Dr. doesn't put in too much at one time. I don;t want to be over tight and I'd rather sneak up on restriction. I do get frustrated with the length of the process, too.

Sometimes, I have gone as often as every two weeks for a fill. This time I am delaying the next fill because of a vacation, out of the county. I don't want to get a fill and then leave and not have access to my DR.

I've managed to lose weight, but only by following my old weight watchers type eating. The band does boost my willpower a bit, but I am still hungry not long after eating.

A few foods go down slowly, like apples, but most other foods I've tried are no problem. I chew well, but I do not feel I have to chew excessively.

I don't know if that info helps you with your decision.

Keep getting fills until you get proper restriction. I have a 10cc band and currently have 7.5 ccs in it. It took me 5 fills to get there. Don't feel bad about needing fills, that is how the band was designed.

i had the same problem i have a 10cc band, and right now at about 8-9cc and i had surgery in mexico, and have found a local doc to do my fills and he is very agressive on his mill i have had tree fill, two 3 cc and one 2cc and the last one started at 3cc but i could not smallow my Water so he took out 1 cc, and i fell good losing 2 lbs a week, still feel like i could use a half cc, but feel good for now, you just need to get more fill everyone i talked to dose not seem to find the sweet spot untill about 8- 9.5 cc, but i was very frustrated for a while trying to get a good fill, but just keep your head up and try not to get to frustrated, i have been there and it will get better:thumbup:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
