HI Rena,

Welcome to LBT! To get back to the main page of the section you're in, or the parent section, just follow the links at the top of the page.

As far as this story being scary, please know that it is NOT AT ALL the usual post-op experience. Most people experience only a few days of pain and very little if any problems with the liquid diet.< /p>

Go to the Introductions section and post a little about yourself if you like, otherwise please feel free to start a new thread in any section with whatever questions you have. Not many people are going to see your questions here, I don't think.

How do I get to the introduction page? I feel like such a goof ball. I swear I am not that computer illiterate!

You might want to bookmark the page with the forum listing so you can get back there whenever. Good luck!!

Rena -

Whatever made you think this was a waste of time.

I had surgery only 6 weeks ago and already lost 30 pounds. This is not a quick fix and my doctor made me fully aware of that. You still have to follow a diet, you have to exercise and you have to follow up with your health care providers. Yes, as my doctor told me ice cream will go down - so you do need the will power to handle this. What it does is decrease the capacity of your stomach, but you need to learn what to eat, how to eat (very slowly) and when to stop eating. You can do this. I thoroughly recommend a support group in your area. I love going to mine and I come home with some solid information every time that I can definately put to good use.

Whatever you do, don't give up - it is definately worth it!

Eileen

I am 9 days post op. finally feel good. it was those damn staples!

I had about 4 days of the "what have I done!" Have to be really careful of what I eat, and only mushy threw a straw stuff. For me the socialization that came with meals. Ladies at work would go out and for 2 weeks not me. Yesterday a great friend call all resturants in town (ok theres only 5) and found a mushy creamy Soup for me, so I went and my feeling of not being included were gone.

It took about 7 days for me to feel like a person again, Dr said liquids only for 1st week, I could not continue. the stomach acid was so strong it was forcing upwards. I ate gas x but did find small amounts of Yoplaid whips yogards with the air stirred out so it just ran down gave me some nutrients and the feeling of full. pretty much lived on whipped yogart until day 8 then went to creamy Soups. 1 week post op visit, everything good, staples out and now on mushies. hard to believe we get excited about malto meal and mashed pot.

Hang tough, you will feel better, I would say it gets better each day, but ya know one day is great and the next will suck for the first little bit. It will get better and this too shall pass.

Rena, my DH has lost almost 200 pounds so far. I can speak for myself here, I was a big baby and needed to whine. Couldn't even have cheese with my whine either. :)

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
