The video of your procedure...

Recommended Posts

I'm assuming since there is a camera inside you the surgeons also videotape the procedure. Do you know if they'd give you a copy if you asked? Did anyone ever ask? If so, what did they say? If they say no, I would think the reason they wouldn't would be for insurance purposes. :)

I don't think they're necessarily video-taped by default. The camera is more so the surgeon can see what's going on than for "souvenirs". :) I think it's surgeon's discretion. I never asked, I didn't care to see it. If you're curious, ask your surgeon. If they don't/won't tape it, ask why. All well within your rights as a patient.

That is a good question. My guess is no, they will not give you a copy of it.

I don't know if you are intrested but I work for Sentara Healthcare, and they have a webcast video of an actually Lap Band being done. Here is the link...

Thanks for the link. I'll check it out. I've actually seen some on YouTube, I just wanted mine as a "souvenir" as the person above you mentioned. Just in case I start to gain weight...BAM put the video in to remind me what I went through. :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
