Hey all,

Just double checking if this is normal. Since banding on the 17th, my stomach/disgestive system I guess in general have been some major rumbling. Its kind of like growling, digesting all mixed up which sometimes makes me think I need to eat something, even though my appetite has been all but zero these past days. Sometimes the rumbling produces gas, sometimes it seems stronger where the stomach is. Anyone else experience this?

Tee:lol:

Yup

I get the same thing. I was banded on 19th March. It seems to get better after some Tomato Soup or smooth yogurt. I've kinda worked out that it might be my "new" hunger signal. Try forcing yourself to take a little Soup or similar (maybe some soft custard) and see if it helps

I gurgle all the time. It is the band, I think. Remember, food is going down like Water goes down a partially clogged drain. Think about the sound a partially clogged drain makes. Sound familiar?

I was banded a week ago.....my stomach is always very vocal...and I really don't 'feel' hungry.....so I guess we're just getting reaquainted!

I was banded on 3/20/08 and have those big tummy rumbles too. I asked the Dr about it on my post op visit and he said it was probly caused by being on a full liquid diet. We tend to swallow more air when we drink. Two more weeks of full liquid then can go to a soft diet till week six. Yay!!!

The same thing is happening to me. I think I am beginning to tell the difference between gas pains and hunger pains. It feels like hunger pains at first and then when the gas passes, I find out that I am not hungry anymore. Very strange :>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
