All you people do is complain...

There are about 3 restaurants here with fried pickles. People here seem to love them or hate them. More common are fried chunks of cheese (hell, this is the midwest... if you fry dirt people will eat it, especially if it comes with gravy).

I like fried green Beans. And I don't like green beans. That's the only way I will eat them.

Mmm, fried cheese. Yummy. Love fried green beans, too. I admit I occasionally still go get some fried mozzarella somewhere, but not nearly as often as I used to.

My current vice is spinach dip. LOVE Ruby Tuesday's or Chili's spinach dip. I'll get that, along with some Soup, and that'll be my heavy-calorie meal for a day.

Does anyone care if I complain?

I've had the worst few days! I started my pre-op liquid diet yesterday. Lost my 'Bible' (how the heck could I lose it, I had it just the day before!!!!) so I couldn't remember every single thing I could drink. Had to call office for another one (that makes me look real dedicated, ya know?). I lost my keys, had to use the spare. Was walking into work in the blowing rain and my umbrella turns inside out. I'm trying to fix it and spill an entire mug of coffee into my purse! You know, all over my phone, wallet, papers, etc. Now I'm wet, my hair, my face and my whole left arm gets soaked (with the coffee) in the process too! I get a case of the 'dropsies' for the rest of the day to go with it. Today doesn't go much better. Raining again, but umbrella doesn't work so I get wet anyway. My washing machine is broken (have been fighting it for about a month now), clothes are soaked and stuck in it. Have headache today. Can't wash coat now. Argh!

Did I miss anything? Oh yeah, did I mention I've lost my memory??? LOL

My fried thing is cheese-stuffed jalapeno peppers. "Poppers" or whatever they're called.

I really don't care for too many fried foods, especially fried potatoes - chips, fries, etc. Never really did much for me. I'd just get an extra burger instead.

Oh and I do like the little fried eggroll type appetizers, like "Firecracker chicken Wraps" at LongHorn....Mmm. That's my meal when we go.

Nah we don't care if you complain!!! Sorry you are having such a time of it! I have had those days....more of them than I care to remember. These days the dropsy thing is getting to be more and more common. Sometimes I figure I pick something up, I might as well throw it down, and pick it up, I am eventually going to drop it anyway!

Hang in there-------sounds like things have to go up from here!!!!

Not much of a fried potato person, either. Now, fried green tomatoes? YUMMY. Especially the one's my SIL's dad makes at his restaurant. Best things EVER. If you're ever in Memphis, you should stop by his restaurant, the Blue Fish Oyster Bar and Restaurant. Rather pricey, but it's supposedly amazing seafood, even won the "best seafood in Memphis" award from a local society magazine. I don't eat seafood, myself, but the filet mignon that they make there is to die for.

If you are into a lower cal version of the jalapeno popper...it's easy and very good. Need a grill, not a fryer. Take jalapeno (can use mild or hot), stuff with low fat mozarella (sp). Take two pieces of salami, wrap around the pepper and grill until cheese is melted. A lot of the fat in the salami cooks off. I dab with paper towel to get rest of fat off. The salami gets a little crispy. A great low fat version of the original.

I am a spinach dip freak, lol! I haven't tried Chili's, but I love Applebee's spinach & artichoke dip! I like Ruby Tuesday's too! We usually go to Applebee's once a week just for the spinach & artichoke dip, I love, love, love it!

IMO Red Lobster sucks ass. Calling Red Lobster "seafood" is like going to McDonald's and calling it "fillet." BUT I will go there for the "fondue," which isn't really fondue, and hubby will get their Pasta because it has 8 gazillion calories. I think the fondue-like thing is called "ultimate fondue". It's a bunch of thick melty cheese sauce with lobster, shrimp, etc. mixed in, served in a sourdough bread bowl.

Applebee's spin dip is SO good. I was there just the other day for French Onion Soup and the dip.

The only thing I like at Red Lobster are the baked potatoes and the biscuits. Well, their cheese sticks are yummy, too. I've only been there twice since being banded, and not at all since I've gotten good restriction, 'cause I can't eat my favorite stuff there!

Seriously, you'd probably LOVE my SIL's family's restaurant.

Ohhh fried pickles!!! I have not had those in years, I don't even remember where I use to get them. Now, I could eat some of those. Nummy nummy. Fried green Beans at TGIF are decent, but the calories so high in it, I pass on them these days.

Her update made me pee a little.

We don't go to Red Lobster very often, maybe a few times a year. The only thing I like at Red Lobster is the Lobster Bisque (besides the biscuits). I tried it after I was banded (when on soft foods) and I loved it. If we go there, that's what I always get. My hubby likes the Alfredo and of course, the cheese and herb biscuits.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
