Newbie from East Texas!!! Hopes to be banded soon...

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone! I'm new here, obviously. My husband told me about this site. He was banded 05/21/07, and I have my consultation with the surgeon 03/27/08. I'm excited and nervous. I meet all the qualifications, we just need to submit it to my insurance to get the ball rolling. I meet the 100lbs and 40+ BMI, but my insurance requires me to have 6 doctors visits in 6 months.

You know, I could really get in trouble on this site. The is so much to read and learn and my computer at work is so much faster than the one I have at home:biggrin2:

I am really excited. I have two family members that have had GB and my DH had LP almost a year ago, so I know I'm ready now.

Welcome! I am also from East Texas. I live in Pittsburg. Who is your surgeon?? Where do you live?? I can definately say this is the best decision that I have made in a VERY long time.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
