was banded feb 18th,was on liquids the rest of that week, then puree foods the following, and i had dropped another 6lbs, i had lost 20 pre op.

now that i'm on solids or trial and error on foods,i've had a few times thrown up,and i know they don't want that to happen due to slippage,i am going for first fill 4/03

hopefully i 'll notice the weight coming off,i've been at a standstill on the scale,is due to my body adjusting etc.

i'm sort of frustrated here

Please remember that you are still healing. Any weight loss before your 1st fill is a bonus. It is not uncommon to gain when you start eating solid food again. After you throw up or PB you need to stick to liquids for 18 - 24 hours to let your stomach heal. Those episodes cause swelling which will make it harder to eat solid foods.

Many of us have to "diet" to lose weight with the band. I count calories and have just started adding exercise to speed up the weight loss. If I don't count calories then I tend to maintain my weight.

Be sure to follow the band rules, eat Protein first, then veggies, then carbs if you need them. Don't drink after you eat for at least 30 minutes and be sure to drink at least 64 oz of Water a day. Hard Protein will stay in your pouch and help keep you full.

Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
