There's no set number of calories (e.g. 1000) that's the magic number for everyone here. I'm almost 6' tall and moderatly active. My calorie needs are probably going to be very different from yours, so what I eat has nothing to do with what you should eat.

Find your BMR. There are range charts you can find online. If possible, determine your AMR. Then go for something between the two. My BMR is about 1877. When I pay attention to calories (not usually), I try to hit around 50% of my BMR, so roughly 930 calories.

Half the BMR, or a threshold between your BMR and AMR (if you can determine it) is generally a good guideline for weightloss.

I'm 5'6" (1.68m) and my doc has my targeting 1000-1200 cal per day plus 30 min of exercise at least 3x a week.

Reality is sometimes I'm below 1000, although if I'm lower than 900 I try to eat a snack before bed.

I eat 1000-1200 cal. and workout 45-60 min 6 days a weekon a bad day I can eat 1500 cal but make up for it with extra workout time, I have been losing about 2-4lbs a week:scared2:

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
