vibration machine for cellulite

Recommended Posts

Was thinking of getting the vibra machine, it is a vibrating plateform. Stood on one the other day and vibrates your whole body. Anyone had good results with it?

haha Lana. On a serious note, I was thinking about getting one too. I would love to go to a store and try it out first. Do you think the home ones are as effective as the commercial ones? The real vibration platforms cost thousands of dollars but they sell some at Walmart for around $300. I wonder if they vibrate less. Also, I wonder if the vibration machine really makes you lose weight. It seems too good to be true, that you just stand on it and lose weight. I guess I should go try one.

well, there have been many weight loss "products" and there was a vibrating machine back in the 20's and what we have learned from that is that nothing, no products will help you just loss weight by standing there. All jokes aside, keep your money and take a walk or ride a bike...the human body needs activity to loss weight...diet and exercise...there is no simple cure or pill or powder and no amount of vibration will burn a signifigant amount of calories. Since we are talking about vibrating...remember sexual activity will burn 20-100 calories and that is it, so if you just lay there what do you think will happen?

My guess is not much will happen...

The theory behind them is that they boost the result of your workout becuase the vibrations mean that your body must work hard to stabilise itself as well as to actually work out. I'd like to give it a try too but the places round here with them charge an arm and a leg to use them.

Its one of those things too, I dont know that I'd trust the $300 machine could do the job of the $3000 machine.

No honey, it's not what you think it is. It's for "cellulite" -- I promise!

Jacqui - great point. That's why I don't own home gym equipment. It's affordable compared to what the gyms have, but the lifespan and effectiveness just aren't the same.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
