Kosher for Passover band-friendly recipes????

Recommended Posts

Calling all observent Jewish bandsters. I don't think matzoh's are going to work with the band. Two bites and I am afraid i will be hanging over the ceramic basin! :puke:And matzoh balls??? Has anyone tried those? I am afraid they will swell up and block the stoma too.

In the past, I have always eaten macaroons, and all the yummy passover Cookies and candies available to get through the week, but I don't want to use the excuse of not being able to eat matzohs as a reason to eat badly. Also, I don't think I can chow down on eggs and gefilte fish for a whole week!! Does everyone just do an Adkins sort of diet?

Anyone have any good recipes that are band friendly and Kosher for Passover.

I will still be in the mushie stage during Passover, but here is my take. I would eat mashed potatoes, with Brisket gravy, tzissmis(sweetpotatoes, prunes, carrots, sugar free maple syrup--cook till death), gefilte fish--small bites, sugar free Jello whipped with FF cool whip.

If I could, eat Brisket or turkey, I would cut it up into the smallest pieces possible, and mush with the mashed potatoes and gravy.

Of course, chix Soup, but no matzoh balls.

A very creamy blended egg salad, no matzoh, creamy tuna.< /p>

Eat lots of soft fish, soft potato kugel.. I would stay away from the macroons...

Just some thoughts....

Hi CC:

I guess the mushy stage is a good one to be in for Passover. Since I am restricted, besides matzoh, I am afraid of boiled eggs. They are central to our sedar, and I really don't want to miss them. My grandparents used to serve them in a bowl of salt Water, and I think I am going to bring that tradition back to our sedar table so I wont be alone. I will have to pass on the tsimmes and mashed potatoes though-way too high in carbs. Maybe I will eat a little dab of charosets and horseraddish. I gotta get some of the tradition in my tummy! And of course, chicken soup, but no matzoh balls wah!:sneaky:

I'll be at the mushy stage. I was thinking today of chopped liver. I haven't made it in years, but maybe that would help. (I don't use fat - just the liquid from cooking the liver and onions.)

And some mushy gefilte fish, and why not a mushy matzo ball, with lots of broth...

Oh Thank you! I forgot about chopped liver!!!!! I usually make mine with hardboiled eggs, chicken livers, onions (to wet it down and give it flavor), salt, and schmaltz, of course. In an effort to make it more heart healthy (ha ha) perhaps I will try it with olive oil and or flax seed oil instead of chicken fat. (Ya gotta have SOME fat in your diet). I have never messed with my Mother's recipe, but maybe now is the time to try something different. Now the question is, what platform to eat it on? It is pretty potent to eat all by itself.

I am going to try to add Brisket gravy--love my Mom's brisket-- on everything soft I can eat. Even on the chopped liver... I make my chopped liver with olive oil, and saute the onions in oil, until soft before adding it. I have done that for years, and am fine with the taste--add eggs, oil, sauted onions and salt....Still tastes great!!!

Will hopefully get enough protein...will still have to do shakes.< /p>

Just a thought....can I declare myself Sephardic for the holiday and eat, lentils, peas, legumes??? May just do that....

could you send me some of your Mom's brisket gravy....sounds yummy

I think going Sephardic makes sense. Especially since there is no direct prohibition of those foods anyway. Just some old rabbis, and tradition.

Going Sephardic means that tofu is okay, which will help. Now, tofu with brisket gravy - and a side of chopped liver.

Happy Planning....

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
