Medicare approval after surgery?

Recommended Posts

I've been going through Beliteweight and they tell me that I can supply them with the LMN and then take the MMPI 2 test in Detroit the day before the surgery. They assure me Medicare will approve, but what if they don't? Is this risky? My Psych doesn't give the test and it would save me money as the test in Detroit is free; however, I'm concerned about what happens if Medicare doesn't approve? I can't self pay as I am disabled with BiPolar II Disorder (stable on meds). Should I try and find someone locally to administer the test and just cough up the money ahead of time first or go ahead and take the test in Detroit? :confused2:

Nope, that is not a promise that Medicare will pay. Tell belite that if they want to put it in writing that they will pay your surgery costs if Medicare denies you, you are happy to do it their way. I'll bet'cha they don't do it.

They won't put something like that in writing so I'd wait for the approval from Medicare first.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
