Someone gave me smaller clothes

Recommended Posts

 My daughter just got home from spending time with her boyfriend's family and brought home a bag of clothes for me. My daughter's boyfriend's mom had gastric bypass in June 07 and sent home size 14's that she used to wear. She's very excited that I'm heading towards being banded as she tried to get me to have GB with her. It was very sweet of her but it's going to be awhile before I can wear them as I'm currently a 28/30.

It won't be long! I went from busting out of 26/28 to currently wearing size 15 comfortably. And I started wearing 15's last month and that's only 10 months out!

Take all the hand me downs you can, it gets expensive!

Lucky you, LongTBfree, I'm looking for smaller clothes, too (about ready to get into 16/18). Even signed on to my Bariatric Center's website where they have a clothing exchange. Still nothing. Hang on to them that size will be here before you know it!!!!!!!!!!

I started out in a sixe 32 and am now wearing a 14.

My thoughts on free clothes is, pick out the ones you like and save them for when you can fian;;y fit into them

I know I have spent so many $$$$ on clothes going down from a size 32. I would wear them until they were falling off of me. I was always on a look out for SALES to buy clothes. I hated buying big buck for something I would just wear a few months.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
