vitamins to help with elacsticity/skin sagging

Recommended Posts

I would think Vitamin E would be an important one. I even take the capsules and pierce them and rub the oil on my face sometimes after a face mask.

Any ideas on what Vitamins to take to help with skin elacsticity? stop/help stop sagging?

There's not really a lot you can do - depends on your age, how heavy you are and how long you have been carrying the weight. I do know of someone who swears by Bio Oil - you can pick it up at Big W or health food shops. It's suppose to stop stretch marks so it may help.

Thanx using the bio oil externally, thought there may have been some Vitamin to take internally, alas otherwise surgery maybe, was hoping wouldnt have to lead to that though.

I agree, there isn't much you can do. No Vitamin or trace element etc, is going to speed up the rate your skin shrinks back. It just takes time. It can take up to 2 years. If you're older, you can try skin care with collagen or retinol A which are supposed to help with elasticity, but really only a minute amount.

Does the skin bounce back at all? I did not think that it did ever. Has anybody heard anything about this?

I will have to have a Tummy Tuck etc.

Thanks

Susannah

Hers hoping some of the skin will catchup with the weightloss. Otherwise the drastic bit but will make me feel good about myself t/t etc.

Depends on what you started out like as to how it bounces back but I'll be a TT candidate down the track because of the way my belly is now.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
