Hi everybody, well I had my surgery in October, and I'm lingering around a 30 lbs loss. I can't get passed it. I just weighed myself this morning, and I think I have lost like one pound in the last two weeks. I am happy that I got the surgery, but I get a little discouraged when I don't see the scale change. Going into the surgery, I thought that afterwards, I was going to be like this lap band poster child, I was going to do everything right, but it has been quite the contrary. Anyway, I just wanted to say hello to everyone. I just joined, and I am looking forward to meeting and reading everyones stories.

congrats on the loss!

i have a friend at the clinic i go to (at UIC... New Hope)

she lost 30lbs in one year. i thought to myself that i would be a little discouraged, she looked at me and said

"without this band, not only would i weigh 30 more pounds, i would prolly weigh more. this is the first year i have LOST and kept it off. and i am not done yet, just because i am losing slower than others doesnt mean i am NOT losing"

i hope that helps a bit

Hi and welcome to LBT! Purplegirl made a great point, better 30 pounds down than 30 pounds up! I am a very slow loser, but I have never once regretted getting the band and am confident that I will reach my goal.

How are you doing on fills? Just curious as to how many you have had and how much restriction you are feeling.

Hello, I think I've had 3 fills, and I'm going back in a couple weeks for the next one. I feel restriction sometimes. I guess it just takes time to get used too.

Yesigold, Know just what you mean, you should loose around 2 lbs a week and around ten a month. If it comes off too fast it seems to come back just as fast. I have lost and gained. You must follow the nutritional plan given to you and exercise. Think Water, water, water and Protein protein protein and exercise, exercise, exercise...simple huh?

I am down two hundred pounds and have had four fills and one unfill in my MidBand. Everybody is different.. Hang in there OK?

Matt

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
