Welcome back Di! Sorry to hear about the job loss but sounds like you're making the best of the situation! Congrats on the weight loss! You're doing great!

Shawna - go ahead with yo bad self! You're doing great too!

Jason - Thanks for looking at the tupperware site. I know it's costly but it last FOREVER!!! Let me know if you need any help on the site.

Well...... let me give y'all a word for the wise.. or now experienced I should say lol. I had canceled my last fill appt. Hated to take off work again and hadn't lost any weight. I know I shouldn't have but I did. So yesterday I call to make an appt. for when we come through Birmingham next Thursday. Would you believe their fill appts are booked up until NOVEMBER 20th?? WHAT??? I said dang I need to learn how to do these things myself!!! It takes maybeee 30 seconds to do it. Anyway.. I was not happy about it but what can I do?? So take my advice and keep your appointments.. and schedule the next one when you're there. You can always cancel if something comes up but go ahead and make it so you don't have to wait a month to get in there!

And lastly, unfortunantly I won't be able to make the support meeting this time. Y'all have fun and I can't wait to hear how it goes!

Wendy, I went for a fill today and the girl making my next appointment really studied that calendar to get me in November 17. I could tell she was trying to squeeze me in somewhere! They may have to set up some branch locations!

Oh my God! My first fill is next week-Oct. 22. Do you think that I should call tomorrow to schedule my Nov. appointment as well?

I don't know what to recommend. Maybe I'm being punished for missing my October one because mine is not until Nov. 20th and she said that was the first available.... obviously not lol. But I can't see where it would hurt to go ahead and schedule it. She said they do 25 a day.. which only starts after lunch (1pm i guess). You're right DI they need to get other locations or get someone who can do them all day long. From the look of the seminar last month.. they are still getting ALOT of new patients.

I tried to get a doctor in Huntsville to take over my care and he said that he would but there's a fee to join that "group"??? The fee is a whopping $1500!! I was like, what's the group? What am I actually paying for? Couldn't really get an answer but no matter what she would have told me... I ain't paying THAT!!

Gosh I've been a ranter lately lol.... sorryyyyy

Wendy, a lot of people cancel appointments and that may be why I sneaked in before you. Might not be a bad idea to call back and ask if they will give you a call if they have a cancellation. Or just try calling every once in a while. Only problem with that, most people probably cancel last minute and you are so far away.

I am a patient of Dr. Miles and scheduled for surgery on November 17th. I have three days left of my 14 day sleep study and will go to the nutrition class either on October 29th or November 5th. When I was approved for the surgery about two weeks ago I contacted Kristen to tell her I was approved she said she would email me everything that I needed to do between now and surgery but I have not heard anything back from her.

I guess I am just impatient and not sure what to expect. Those that have already been through all this let me know what to expect in the few weeks between now and my surgery. When will they call me to do the pre-op and when do I receive the access code to the realize band website? Thanks everyone for your help.

Hey CD! Welcome to the thread! Congrats on having made it this far and having a surgery date!!!

I guess Kristen must be Neomi's (SP) new assistant? That name don't ring a bell. As you can see from this tread.. most all of us have had some time or another when we felt forgotten about. They just have so many patients! From my experience.. sounds like once you finish the sleep study and the nutrition class... you should be ready to go. I think the preop testing was like a week prior to surgery. They called the day before to tell me what time to be there for preop. Same for surgery.. the hospital will call you the day before to let you know what time to be there surgery day.

As far as the code for the realize band site.. I can't help there. I don't have the realize.

I understand the desire to know NOW what lies ahead! We all do! So ask away if you have questions... Someone ... well most everyone... may remember more than I do.. I think I'm having early alzheimers... or part timers lol.

Again, welcome! Make yourself at home.

CD, you will get the code for the realize band site the day of the surgery. but for now you can get on there and set somethings up.

and yes that kristen is her helper now. she has been training her for around 6-8 weeks now. it took her a 2 weeks to email me my stuff. and yes i called and asked about it. dont worry your in good hands there and here. i believe between all of us on here we can help you in anyway.

oh and welcome to the group. everyone on here is a great person. feel free to ask anything.

OK ya'll I need some serious support. I will be 6 weeks post op on Tuesday and my first fill is Wednesday(Realize band). This past week has been horrible! I am hungry and I have been making some poor choices for food. I am not getting the signals that I use to get when I was full (burping, pain in back etc.)

Is this normal? Can anyone else relate? I feel like everything is getting centered around this first fill. Are my expectations too high or will I get the relief that I need? Is this what's called bandster's hell? Oh and that 16 lb weight loss is probably 12 or 13 by now-I'm scared to get on the scale...

wendy, the support meeting was great this time. alot better then last time. and believe it our not i got up to talk in front of all those people. thanks to Veronica. and got to meet fordgal ( shawna), she also got up and talked this time. lol sorry you couldnt make it wendy. i understand about the drive.

i weighted in today at the meeting and i have lost another 11 pounds. so thats 32 pounds since the surgery. i going to change my ticker to weight lost after the surgery now. i was so happy about it. and i also dont have a fill yet either. so im hoping that the fill i get monday helps even more.they was a big turn out this month, the room was full.

aprilapple, first off why ddint you come to the meeting today? please start coming if you can. it helps out so much. and you really should not have back pains when you get full. try drinking Water and chewing gum when you get hungry. i do that and it helps so much. you can bet this, i know you can. alot of it is just head work. dont let yourself fall back into old eating ways please. you have worked to hard to get here. dont buy anything that you cant eat. dont cook it. that has helped me out. i do all the cooking and i want cook something thats not in my diet. my wife agrees to it because she knows thats the one of the best ways to controll the food.< /p>

do you fell like you have had enough when you eat now? just get a small plate and what goes on it thats all you eat. dont let yourself go back and fill it up again. i know you can do it. when you come to the support group meetings you can ask everyone what they do to help them out. thats why it is so good to come to the meetings.

Thanks Jason there is truth in everything that you said. I was getting pretty bummed out. I am gonna start going to the gym Monday. I wanna do the couch to 5 k program using the treadmill. I also need to up my Water intake. I started that this morning. Should I still be doing Protein supplements? What does restriction feel like? If I est until I'm full then I feel miserable. I do need to come to support group and I need to check in with you guys more often. Any advice or encouragement is appreciated.

how much water do you drink in one day? i drink around 2 gallons. thats about all i do drink. and every now and then i will fix some tea. and yes please start walking and going to the gym. you WILL NOT lose the weight unless you do that. yes keep drinking the Protein Shakes. they will help you get your protein in. if they are not filling you up try to eat some protein food. make sure you are getting your protein in before you eat anything with less protein in it. dont just sit around the house it will make you want to eat. get up and walk around the yard are anything, just dont sit and watch t.v. and believe me coming to the support group meetings help you in more ways then you can think. cause if its happening to you then it did happen to us. go ahead and make plans on being there next month. it is the 3rd saturday of every month. i will be looking for you.:tongue_smilie:

and feel free to ask any questions you need to. theres no bad question.

Meeting was great today. Lots of great questions. Of course my favorite was the "sex" question. It was good meeting you Jason! And yep I got up and gave my story.

As for your first fill... Dont worry. I did not lose any weight between my first and second fill. Then all of the sudden... BOOM the weight started coming off. It really took my about 4 months post op before it really started kicking in. I think the support groups are great and really help you stay motivated.

Hope everyone is doing well!!

=)

:thumbup:Hey Everyone I am new to the group. My name is Cindy from Montgomery. My grandkids call me Lou. My husband has started calling me Skinny Minnie. His way of support. He is great!! I hope all of you have someone that believes in what you are doing. If not it sounds like this group will be there for you. I had my surgery on 8/21 down 31# and 17ins and have had no true problems. This is so great that the band works if you do what you are suppose to do. I had my first fill when I went back for my six week check 2.5 cc and it has kept me on track. I go back the 30th for my next fill. Jason R and FordGal thanks for the time yesterday I enjoyed talking with you after support group. It was a great meeting. I was proud for both of you for you weight loss. Saving Grace missed you at the meeting I talked with you and Jason last month about this site but I got confused on where I was suppose to go and went to Obesity Help instead. J & F gave me the info again yesterday but I couldn't get on until this morning. I can't stay on but wanted to tell you all that I am looking forward to working together to achieve our goals one day at a time. God Bless I will try to get back on this evening around 9:00. HAVE A NICE DAY!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Cindy! Welcome to the site!

It's great to hear that y'all had such a good time yesterday. I wish it wasn't such a long drive for me.

OK - let's hear it... what was the sex question? And what was the answer? lol

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
