Anyone using Dr. LePort in Fountain Valley. I am at the beginning stages of the whole process. I just want time to fly. I am still in my 6 mos diet (insurance req) I will be doing my psych exam next week. I have already been to one support group and my Dr. Talk is scheduled for the end of April.

Hi, My name is Sheila I am from Westhoughton, near Manchester, England, I was banded in Belgum o 7th May 2007 by Dr Marc Forquet, and although there have been a few small hiccups, this is the best thing that I have ever done for myself, I have lost 3 stone to date and feel wonderfull. I was in Long Beach last year, Me and my family just love Los Angeles, my favourite spot is a patch of grass near the baseball area on Venice Beach, I could sit there all day just people watching, from there I would walk to Santa Monica Pier, and for evening meal stroll along Third Street. When we visited last year I lived on Soup and salad, it was just fine. How do you fancy a penpal (e-mail) bandster from across the pond???

Take care, Sheila x

I had my surgery with Dr. Leport in FV on April 2, 2008. He is a FABULOUS doctor. He was so patient and gentle with everything. I have never once felt like I was bothering him or his physician assistants with all my questions. Are you planning to have your surgery at Orange Coast or Fountain Valley hospital? Good luck! I highly recommend going to a couple of support group meeting before your surgery - a lot of answered questions!

Anyone with recent LePort experiences? It seems like there isn't so much info on the internet about experiences/timelines with this office.

I have an info meeting/verification 8/6 and hoping the process isnt too drawn out... been waiting 3 years already!

Hi,

I was just banded by Dr.Kelly Francis out of Dr.Leport's office. The process from beginning to end was fairly quick, from date of verification to surgery was about 2-3 months. I just had surgery on July 20th of this year. Feel free to contact me with any questions.

Thanks for the reply Monica90604....

I have my 1st/info appointment this Friday and I've heard good things online, but you can only hear so many good things before you start to wonder why you aren't hearing ANY negatives... a little odd.

Hope all goes well for you in your odyssey... I started meeting with my doc back in March, so I will be 6 months in soon... and if it's only another 2-3 months that doesn't seem bad except I'm SO ready... 3 years of research and a decade of "really fat" (def chubby - chubby + as a child) have made me super ready to get on with the rest of my life.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
