Staples? never heard of anyone getting staples. Did you have a lap band or a gastric bypass?

As far as when -- whenever it doesn't hurt when you try. I didn't even think about sex for 2 weeks myself - but then I had a lot of port pain.

Some surgeons use staples to close the incisions.

We waited until I got home.

Seriously, I felt fine the day I was discharged. I stayed overnight at the hospital and by the time I got home the next day was able to go for a walk and participate in "other" activities. Post op day 4 was the only day I really felt bad. Otherwise, if you are comfortable and don't get too "crazy", there are really no restrictions.

Well we shall we say "enjoyed each others company" within four days, but I wasn't that "active" of a participant. I was in the mood about 2 weeks after and was the initiator and my port hurt pretty bad the next day, working those abdominals wasn't such a great idea:lol:

I asked the same thing a few days ago and I heard different responses. One person said she waited up to 5 weeks and most people simply said they waited until they felt better. I am personally going to wait for at least a month, because I think it is going to be something I regret afterwards due to all of the ab work involved. Well...ab work is required on my part if I want to have a...um...religious experience. My surgery is Nov. 18th! Good luck!:)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
