My surgery is next Wednesday and I know how you feel. It's a combination of scared/excitedness! Scared of the post op pain, scared of the post op diet (And if you're like me, scared of the needles!)... but let me tell you... NO ONE HAS DONE MROE RESEARCH ON THIS THAN ME! -- and I just want to let you know one thing that you REPEAT TO YOURSELF OVER AND OVER AGAIN!!!:

It's totally worth it.

Wow, it's not the easiest thing I've had to do in life , My Dr. has me on a liquid diet from now til my surgery date 3/31/08 (yeahhhhhh) I am getting more and more excited and finally letting it all sink in, my insurance isn't covering all the expenses so I'm a little stressed about that because now I have to come up with the 6,000 insurance isn't covering, but it's well worth it, just not sure where the moneys going to come from, please keep me in your prayers and pray that God sends me a miracle cause I sure could use 1 right about now.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
