I can only feel it if i press on it.. but then again im not at goal weight yet.. I've learned that with more weight loss it is easier to feel... But that is nothing to worry about.. a lot of surgeons now use low-profile ports(smaller) or when you get to goal there is always the option to switch it to the low profile one and i have also read on here where people have had there ports stitched in under the muscle..

But truthfully it really is no big deal..... I think of it this way.. if i feel it i know ill always have a little reminder to stay on track and remember how much i have been through to get to where i am

Absolutely you can feel it. But, you can't see it (at least I can't). Like Jeni, I like to touch mine to remind me what's going on inside.

I can also feel it only when I look for it and press down on it other than that I don't know its there, all of my scars are gone but I have a dark brown skin tone

I have felt mine since day one. The more I loose though the further up it rises:) I'm going to bet I'll have an "outtie" port button once I get to goal - I'm bottom heavy, and I lost my tummy fat FAST - I'll keep it as a reminder that "pasta is bad for me"..LOL

Chickie...since getting to goal, do you still need to have your band filled at all? You note "unfilled in 06" but have you added fills since? Does the running keep you in check?

No, I haven't added anything since then.

It's not just the exercise that keeps my weight stable, it's my lifestyle. I do run anywhere up to 10km a day, but I am also a vegetarian, I eat whole, organic foods as often as I can, and I don't drink or smoke. I think it's the whole package that has allowed me to maintain this weight with very little effort for so long.

Chickie...thanks!

ARe you still eating less than a cup of food per meal as well and 3 meals a day...did any of that change since you were actively loosing weight? I'm not very comfortable right now, so I'm curious as to if I'm destined to feel this way forever. I've been told I'm too tight, but hard to imagine when I can't budge the scales for a couple of months now, but can't eat much of anything solid. Love your pictures! I'm very impressed! My husband runs every day of his life...he's run the Ultra's too. I know all about how it get's in your blood...just not mine:rolleyes2:

I am just starting to be able to feel my port. I have lost almost 70 pounds and still have about 150 pounds to go. Yesterday, I leaned against a desk at work and it hurt a little because I was pressing on the port.

At this stage I eat about a cup and a half (I I had to guess) I never maintained a tight fill because I didn't like being too tight. I liked being able to get everything I needed from food, and not having to rely on shakes to fuel my body. So, no not a lot has changed since I was actively losing. My portions have increased slightly, but I eat the same foods as when I was when I was losing.

Over restriction can actually slow weight loss down. I don't know the science behind it, but if I have to guess it would be because it's harder to get lean meats and veggies down when a too tight fill is maintained. If you are not eating much in the way of solid food, perhaps a slight unfill is in order? I would definitely talk to your surgeon.

Ultras? Holy cow! I can only dream!

Chickie,

Thanks so much for adding your pictures to your signature line. You are quite an inspiration to those of us who are relatively new to the process. What fabulous results!!! I'd love to be able to get thin enough to run. I walked the Portland Marathon in 2005 at 250 pounds (we won't talk about the time....). ;o)

I know the port is there and I can feel the port quite easily.

Occasionally I touch the port location and remind myself that I am not really dreaming and I have actually lost weight.

Thanks again Chickie. I appreciate hearing about life after reaching goal. My Dr. also thinks I may be too tight. They have me keeping a food diary for a week then we'll see. I know I won't get a passing grade for vegetables. Other than a few veggies in salad's occasionally, I really don't eat them. Definitely no beef of any kind. I stick to chicken and fish, way too much Soup, but it's easy at work. Protein's good though. I apprecaite your input. Good luck at the races!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
