Yesh Can Yisraelim?

Recommended Posts

If there are Israelis here (either in Israel or anywhere else), don't be shy - there are at least two of us here already! Chag Purim Sameach, let's all stay away from Oznei Haman together, b'seder?

Yes, there are a few Israelis on this forum! I'm a new Israeli addition to this forum.

How are you doing?

Hi there!

My name is Susannah ( Shoshana) and I am Jewish although I cannot speak Hebrew. Typical diaspora Jew!

Chag Purim Sameach.

I was banded in February 2007 and have now lost over 50 kgs.

I live in Australia.

Hey Susannah/Shoshana - hope you had a happy Purim down under!

Congrats on your weight loss. Have you ever been to Israel before? Where are you from in Australia? We get groups of students on gap year programs (AUJS and IBC) visiting us on our kibbutz during the winter. It's always fun to have Aussies here. All the best, stay in touch.

Hi Bandpal,

Thank you for replying so quickly!! WOW :-)

I'm glad to hear that you are feeling well and losing weight 4 months into the banding process.

I also underwent revision surgery at Assuta Hospital in TA a couple of days ago. Dr. Subhi Abu Abeid banded me and treated my hiatal hernia. Am still a bit sore but am not taking anything because it is bearable. I live in Kiryat Bialik, north of Haifa.

I also visited and joined the tapuz forum but find this site more informative and feel more comfy in my mother tongue, English. In any case, do keep in touch. Will be glad to trade recipes, share experiences and to support of course.

Best,

Nava

Hi David!

You look great in that picture. I've lost 34 lbs. You men always lose faster. Ze lo fair!

Let me know what you are eating. I'm finally having my oatmeal after a week of Pesach. No matzah for me. One matzah balll did it and never again!

Shalom,

Bella.

Hey Bella,

Great to hear from you again! Men lose faster but women live longer, so all in all, sounds like a fair trade-off to me. Congratulations on your weight loss. I stayed away from matzah balls this Pesach, but had a nasty encounter with a Macaroon. We won't be going there again anytime soon. Take care, stay in touch...

Hi Everyone,

I have my first consultation on Sept 1st at Ichilov. I have no idea who the doctor is. Has anyone had their lapband procedure there? My kupat holim is Meuchedet.

Thanks,

Michelle

I was so excited to see that I understood this- I guess studying in Israel does help. im studying abroad finishing my college degree and going back to the US to be banded- I looked into the surgeons here but they have much less experience... I tried to google people in Israel undergoing lap band and how surprising to find it on the very forum I am already a part of... My big question is- what did all of you guys drink for the 2 weeks before?

Halachti LTel Aviv Vmatzati Rock Hashetiyot LMeatzvei Guf...

I want something good and Protein filled...

Also which dr is considered best here in case of emergency?

I start liquids the day after Purim so I can still eat them!!!

Shalom!

I was banded in Hadassah hospital July 2010. Two months later, I've lost close to three kilos, but I put ON weight over Rosh Hashana. That really shocked me. I was eating less, but more sweet stuff. I don't imagine Yom Kippur will be much of a challenge!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
