Creamy Spinach Chicken Salad

Recommended Posts

GEORGIA girl

This is awesome I am making it alot and even my youngest loves it.

Now I hate spinach but heard so much about this I thought I would give it a try. Thumbs up it is fabulous and low carb and low cal...

I'm really glad you like it. I just started eating low carb again and I love the fact that is low calorie AND low carb. I made a turkey wrap with the spinach dip and half of a low carb tortilla yesterday and it was very good. Good luck to you!

Another new (to me) use for it...I spooned it over a salmon steak - added colour to the presentation, and a different taste (pumped up with lemon juice)

We were in Sam's and they made chicken salad with reduced fat and ff ranch dressing (just enough to moisten the chicken) then added some fresh cracked black pepper. It was delicious! I haven't been banded yet but I'm trying to come up with some recipes and I think this one and the spinach dip one will be useful.

For a low calorie, low fat dish my whole family loves is canned chicken with its broth, ff cream of chicken Soup, and drained mixed veggies. It makes a great chicken pot pie dinner. I put biscuits on theirs and eat mine without the biscuits. It's soft and very comforting. Will something like this work with the band for regular food?

I don't know how I come up with some of this stuff, lol! I guess I'm just always looking for easy, practical things to do that's different. I'm crazy about spinach dips (with chips :frown:) and I was trying to find a way to enjoy the taste of it (and make it filling), without the carbs.

I never really got into canned chicken pre-band, but I just love it now. It's tasty and tender enough to go down well. I am always trying new things with canned chicken. The same ol' chicken salad gets boring to me.

Onions, celery, or whatever you like in chicken salad could be added to bump up the flavor even more too! I added some chopped walnuts to mine the other day, and it was delicious! My recipes are hardly ever the same from one time to the next, lol!

Hee hee! We all love to eat! That's we're we all get most of our recipes LOL!!! TFS!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
