March 24th Bandsters - Easter?

Recommended Posts

What ya doing for Easter??

Me - starting at midnight on Saturday - I am on Clear liquids until midnight Sunday - then be at the hospital by 7:00 a.m. on Monday, March 24th?

It kinda makes me sad - no Easter dinner this year....no hiding eggs - first time in 20 years that I havent made Easter dinner for all of our family.

Hubby said it might be easier just to not do anything and I can just rest all day.

So - this is what I am going do on Easter Sunday

1. sleep late - I hope the Good Lord understands

2. Walk in the morning

3. Lay in my comfy bed all day and watch movies

4. Walk in the late afternoon

What are your Easter plans??

I always do the big Easter dinner here at my house for the extended family. When I found out my surgery date, I knew I would not be able to handle it this year.

My aunt is doing a brunch on Sunday. It will be tough to be around all that yummy food, but my surgery is the next day....so there will be little time to redeem myself and I don't want to screw things up completely. I know I can handle it. I will be doing the Easter egg hunt in the morning with the neighborhood kids. It is tradition and my kids would be upset if we did not do this.

So, even though I'll be on Clear Liquids all day, my family will be enjoying and I'll be looking foward to Monday!

Best of luck to you on Monday. Keep us posted on how you are doing.

Christine

go to church - I think I better!!

Then not cook anything!!

This is the first time in a long time I did not cook. I bought candy stuff I did not like a couple of weeks ago for my kids, 6 & 10. We are just going to 2 differnent houses after they eat - one of them said they will save plates for my kids to eat .

I will come home, put some new QVC sheets I just got in the mail on my bed.

Send the kids off to my in-laws

Make sure my bags are packed

Relax!!!

I don't know what time I have to be at the hospital- I find out tomorrow.

What is everyone else doing??

Wow, I'm with you Karen! I am going to stay up as late as I can and sleep as long as I can on Sunday. Then I plan to have all kinds of Water bottles and such around. While I will see my son, he will be with his dad all day, so I don't have to cook. Since my surgery is on Tuesday, I am a little worried about Monday. But, since my surgery will be the next day, I am hoping to power through it.

Anyone else?

I normally cook easter dinner for my family and my son comes over with his wife and 3 daughters. This year i will be 6 days post op and I dont think they would enjoy liquids for Easter dinner, so my hubby and 2 kids at home are going out to a resturaunt somewhere and maybe my oldest son will go along. I'll stay home and eat Soup or a Protein Drink.< /p>

Girls,

My surgery is also Monday morning. I am going to church like I do every Sunday, going to my in-laws for our family dinner and Easter Egg hunt. I have been on a liquid diet for 2 1/2 weeks. I have sort of gotten used to it. Not that I love it or anything. But, I have learned to deal with it.:)

GOOD LUCK!!!! (Can you tell we just dyed Easter Eggs)

Happy Easter! Today I will be making dinner for my family. I figure we will have about 30 people coming. I dicided to have Easter at my house so that today would go by fast and keep my mind off of food. I hope that people stay late so I can just clean up and go to bed. I have to leave my house around 4:40 to be at the hospital around 5:15 am.

Girls,

How did you all do? I can compare this to my hysterectomy 3 1/2 years ago (full cut). I am tired and sore, but this is nothing like the hysterectomy. Thank Goodness!!!

Since I live in a rural area, we have had trouble getting liquid pain meds. So lucky me, we get to crush up a pill and take it with unsweetened applesause. YUCK. I think I will mix it with my protien drink today.

Also, I hope you know not to weigh your self this week. All the IV fluids they have pumped into you puts on Fluid weight. My husband is a nurse and he said each one of the big bags weighs approximately 2 pounds.

Happy Healing!!!

Sugar - I made it thru it and I totally agree - it is comparable to a hysterectomy (had a complete one in 2003) but to me, not as much pain. Just a lot of soreness and am dealing with gas issues right now.

I got home from the hospital yesterday around 1:00 p.m.

Surgery was fine. Doc said that everything went great.

We too live in a rural area and no liquid pain killer. I too crushed mine last night and added to runny oatmeal.

Glad you are doing well also!!! Hang in there!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
