Hey everyone, just wanted to let you all know that indeed there is a trial study around the country, I'm in chicago and i got banded 2 months ago and my bmi was 34.5% and i didnt have any other complications, what i do have to do as part of the study is see my doctor every month for the next 3 years as well as a dietician and i have an on call nurse incase of any problems, i know here in chicago there was a group of 30 with only 3 guys taking part of this study

hope to hear from anyone else taking part of a study

I would have loved to take part in a trial. I rather have 17,000 dollars in my bank than in my stomach. As stupid as it sounds I wanted this so bad, I had to gain like 10 pounds just to get to a BMI of 35. I have been on the obesity roller coaster most of my adult life.

Hi Julio! Our study last for 5 years. I wonder if it is the same one. We start getting paid after the first year. Not a lot. Something like $50 a visit or something. We have 30 people in Memphis also and I think there are 4 guys in this one. One of them is my hairdresser! LOL! I get free hair cuts for the rest of my life for getting him in!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
