Full feeling

Recommended Posts

What is the full feeling like? The band is suppose to make you feel full but mine doesn't seem to do that, at least I don't think. I know I don't need a fill because as it is food gets stuck now. Is the full feeling just a feeling of satisfaction or is it the feeling you get after you have a thanksgiving meal?

For me, the full feeling is totally different than it was before. Now that I have restriction, I feel full when I get a little pressure in my chest. I have just recently experienced the "stuck" feeling so I am more than happy to stop at the first sign that I've had enough.

Do I feel that warm and fuzzy I'm so full feeling? Not really.

To be honest, after 3 years i kinda lost my track. As time passed by the feeling of fullness didn't come, i always waited for the "Thanksgiving meal type of fullness" and that only comes after i eat a full plate of food.

Now that i've stopped eating when food starts getting harder to go down ( a feeling that it will get stuck if you shove more food down) i haven't PB'ed at all. I also feel quite satisfied without feeling like i ate a brick or something.

So yeah, i think these signs are different for everyone. After 3 years i finally found out when i should stop eating. You kinda have to put a lap-band in your brain also ; It feels so odd to eat so little doesn't it?

For me it has taken a long time to know what full feels like as well. I no longer get a full belly. I feel restriction in m throat telling me "You're done". If I listen to it and stop then I will feel full. If I don't listen and keep eating, I PB. SO I have come to understand I will never be "full bellied" and that is ok with me!

For me, I stop when I'm satisfied and but don't feel empty either....does that make sense? I'm also terrified about stretching my pouch so I don't dare eat till I'm really feeling full and when I do, I feel guilty.

Boo Boo Kitty,

I have a question for you. Did you have any extra skin? That is one of my biggest fears. I am 23 and my starting weight was 315. Ive lost 35 lbs., but was wondering if you happen to have extra skin?

My full feeling feels sorta like I need to burp.. Sometimes I actually do and then eat another bite or 2 and then I just know NO MORE FOR ME!

Definitely not the same feeling as I used to get prior to banding when eating a big meal.

For me, it's a "I'm not hungry anymore" feeling. And when my pouch is starting to get full, I get a little cough. Weird, huh? That's my signal to stop.

Yes I do, sorry to tell you. I am getting a Tummy Tuck and breast reduction on May 6th. I want to also get my arms and thighs done, but my insurance doesn't cover it.

For me the full feeling is like "ugh I can't move and I can't eat another bite". Although it does feel a little different than before. Also, I get this full feeling from just a couple bites.

You can kiss the "full feeling like after a Thanksgiving Meal" adios forever. You will never have that "bowling ball in the stomach" feeling again. Your fullness will come about 4 inches higher up. A completely different feeling. I would NOT use the term "satisfied" because I think we overweight people have a VERY distorted definition of the word. You will eat until you feel the beginnings of being a little uncomfortable if you were to continue to eat. That's the best way I can put it.

I think that we need to distinguish between our fuel tanks satisfaction and that other satisfaction we sought with food that made us morbidly obese.

I, for some reason, have no hunger. I'm only two weeks post op so I have just started very soft mushie foods. I eat three times a day and drink one Protein shake. I measure my food so that I eat enough.

My issue is the comfort eating. I'm wanting to eat, despite the fact I have no hunger. Habits are hard to break but I read somewhere that it takes 21 days to establish a new habit and at least that long to change an existing one. I look forward to my seemingly incessant need to satisfy and pacify with food.

I have quite a clear signal of when to quit and am very uncomfortable if I don't.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
