Stitches, staples etc?

Recommended Posts

I have done so much research regarding all the life changes and such that I will have to make that I never stopped to think too much about the surgery. I should be getting near the end of this pre op adventure soon! Hooray!

Now my question is:

I understand I will probably have 4 incisions that are smaller and one larger one for a total of 5.

Did your doctor use stitches or staples or something else? I wont see my doc again until I get preauth from insurance so I was hoping to see what the doctors are using so I know when I go in to meet with him.

I'm being banded tomorrow and he said he will use staples.

Mine used surgical glue, which was good as it minimized discomfort and scarring. However, I had a brief (48 hour) reaction to it and thought I had developed an infection (heat and redness) around the port incision, but it disappeared quickly.

wow wide array just as I figured. I might be too impatient to wait to find out and might have to call and ask lol

Thanks everyone

I had surgical glue and steri strips. To look at my tummy you only see 3 very tiny incisions, and one a larger, maybe 1 1/2 inches. The last one is hidden in my belly button.. :-)

My doc said staples at our first meeting, but I voiced opposition that I'd have to go all the way back down there (3 hour each way) to have them removed.

He said depends on how big I am or something, so he said if he doesn't have to use staples, he won't.. I came out with surgical glue & steristrips.. dissolvable stitches on the inside. One did not hold up well, and has turned into an outside scar (bulges a little), but it's tiny.

surgical glue and steri-strips on the skin.

In the inside (to stitch band and port) he used dissolvable stitches at first then when I had revision surgery he used real stitches to re-attach my port.

Good luck!

I was banded so long ago they had not invented stitches yet JK.

I had disolving stitches they just sorta fell out.

First let me tell you when I had my gall bladder removed three years ago they used dissolvable stitches and tape. OMG, it hurt like hell! Every time I moved my skin pulled. I think it was worse than the actual incision. For lapband they used surgical glue. What a difference! No pulling and very little pain.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
