I am so frustrated.

Right after surgery I lost about 15 lbs. Now, 15 days post op, I weigh myself and I'm back up 4.

I just started mushies so I am having some foods with more sodium, but I'm not hardly eating. How could I have possibly gained weight?

Does anyone know the reasoning for this or has this happened to anyone?

I'm incredibly discouraged.

I know exactly how you feel. I am not up any weight. But I lost 19 pounds very quickly and I now I am stuck. I have been back on regular foods for about a week now. I am just trying to remain positive and stick with this. I know this is a long term thing. Remember it's not uncommon to not use any weight in the first month before you have a fill.

I gained up a couple of pounds as well. I felt so mad at myself. I went back on my preop diet (liquid and sugar free jello) for three days and lost 5 pounds. I am back on track by eating less sodium and more vegetables. I get another band fill on March 24 th. I think that will help me alot. Good luck to you and hang in there!

I'm with ya. I know I am eating more now than I was on liquids, but I am still eating less than I did before surgery, so I can't understand either why the weight is creeping back up. I'm sure hoping my first fill will send things back in the right direction.

It's normal for weight fluctuations especially as you transition from liquids to real food. food hold more Water in our body and some foods have more salt.

You can't expect after losing 15 to 20 pounds for the weight to continue to drop rapidly. We all want it to happen, but it's unrealistic.

Until you get a good fill, if you are careful of what you are eating, you can still continue to lose weight, it will just happen more slowly. Remember that is how the band is supposed to work, this is not GBP.

When you say you are not hardly eating, it is hard to determine waht that means. Compared to pre-band eating or compared to "normal" eating. A better description is how many calories you are having in an average day and how many grams of Protein in a day.

If you are not tracking those, you should. Weigh and measure your food and write it down for a week and see where you are. That is the only way to know exactly how much (or little) you are eating.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
