CarlaG 0 Posted March 18, 2008 Before I was banded on the 13th, I was drinking the Protein shakes, eating yogurt, etc. I had no issues with "sweet" tasting stuff, but was not a big sweet eater. Since the band, I cannot stomach anything sweet and the majority of the stuff on the liquid phase is sweet. Ever since the banding the Protein Shakes cause me major pain. After my morning shake yesterday I stayed away from the Protein Shakes and/or Protein waters. Today I tried a protein Water and again major pain. I think it possibly has something to do with artificial sweetners. Right now I can't even stand the smell of anything sweet  Has anyone else had this problem? I go to the doctor on Wednesday and I'm hoping he will say I can start mushies cuz I am not finding anything to agree with me on liquids (except egg drop soup). RealtorCarol 0 Posted March 18, 2008 Hi I was banded last Thuirsday the 18th. I have not had any reaction to sweets...yet. This is so new. However, please help. My post-op paperwork says liquids and then something about 1/2 to 1/4 cup 3 times a day. What are you eating these days?:biggrin2:
LiseSeattle 0 Posted March 18, 2008 i wish i had that problem. opposite for me. all sweets, all the time!
CarlaG 0 Posted March 18, 2008 RealtorCarol, I am eating something I probably shouldn't be at this point. I have eaten egg drop Soup, bullion and my mainstay has been some chicken boiled in bullion with no yolk egg noodles and then I puree it so it looks like creamy Soup.< /p> The noodles do have carbs but they also have Protein so I figured that would add a little Protein in that I am not getting from the Protein drinks. For some reason I cannot stomach them right now. I'm only eating 1/4 to 1/3 cup of that 3 times a day and chewing/sucking on ice I bought from Sonic. Their ice is just like little balls, soft enough to chew without breaking your teeth. I like my Water really cold so the sipping isn't working because the Water gets too warm. I know I'm being so picky but when I try to eat/drink something that doesn't agree with me I really suffer and it really makes me question my decision. I have to give myself the most positive thoughts I can and if what I eat makes my day go pain free, then I am happy. The dr/nutritionist might not be too happy when I see them but maybe they can give me some other suggestions or will move me to mushies where I can have some cottage cheese or ricotta cheese....anything non sweet with protein  By the way, I think we were banded the same day. I'm a March 13th bander (last Thursday) too!
Pgirl58 0 Posted March 18, 2008 Hi, I was banded on 3/11/08. I am feeling the same way you are. Before the banding, I was able to drink Vitamin Water or propel with no problem, now just the thought of these fluids makes me nauseated. I have been eating basically Clear Liquids like chicken Soup broth, water. Today I am going to have a Beef broth- whoo! I have been trying to exercise getting in two miles a day. Tomorrow I am going to try a cream of chicken soup, see how that goes. I am looking for more liquid ideas during this time.
moosey52 0 Posted March 18, 2008 You might want to try unflavored Unjury, it is great in just skim milk with crushed ice in a blender, and also it is great mixed up in applesauce. Besure you let it sit to really soak in what ever u mix it in. I bought some on line and I just love it, can mix it in with my cream of wheat also. If you want just order a few samples. They even have some reciepes that you can print out later. Welcome to the UNJURY Homepage
c7777christine 1 Posted March 18, 2008 I don't know about you, but I'm allergic to all artificial sweetners. I get diarrea nausea and Migraines. People swear by them, but I think there toxic. A little sugar won't hurt you. Look for a drink without the fake stuff and I bet you'll feel better. Good luck, Chrissie

A nice change from all the sweet stuff and 20g of protien per scoop.
