bling 0 Posted March 17, 2008 My hubby had his band done this past Friday. The last time he had a BM was Thursday after drinking that yucky Magnizium Citrate.. Since the surgery, he hasn't had one single movement. Is this normal? When should he expect to have a BM?

giveyouthemoon 4 Posted April 16, 2008 Hmmm. That could be a problem. The anesthesia can cause some folks to get a little bound up. It had the opposite effect on me, I had to dash for the potty. Is he uncomfortable? If so ya'll may need to buy stool softeners. If he's feeling ok (not all backed up) then I suppose let nature take its due course. Skinny_Jill 36 Posted April 17, 2008 3 days after surgery I took Milk of Magnesia and it got things moving.
Ang1982 4 Posted April 17, 2008 I was probably about 7 days w/o a BM however I wasn't "backed up" at all, when I went it wasn't uncomfortable at all. If he's in any pain or discomfort it wouldn't hurt to talk to the doc about recommended products but I'd imagine some milk of magnesia would work.
Guest Leslie2Lose Posted April 17, 2008 I was 4 days out before a BM. I think it takes some time. Mine wasn't too bad - but I had a lot of gas that accompanied it.
IAmWithTheBand 0 Posted April 17, 2008 I'm assuming you mean bowel movement... ...I didn't have one for a week after and when I did, it was big and it felt SOOO good. I subsiquently lost 5 pounds. Now it's once about every 3-4 days. I lose a pound a day, but when I poop, I lose 2 :-)
Brandy~ 2 Posted April 17, 2008 My surgeon told me that if nothing happens by day 2 then to take stool softeners.
boxwes 0 Posted April 18, 2008 3 days here. I took some Milk of Magnesia on day 3 and have been great ever since. It also took away a ton of the gas pain, thank god!
