gordonfamily3 0 Posted March 22, 2008 Welcome! From my exp w/ insurance companies in general if your BMI is above 40 you don't have to have anything major wrong your BMI is enough to get you approved. If your BMI is 35- 40 then they are looking for sleep apena, diabetes, high BP something that is weight related. Sometime they will let the asthma go through because the weight loss can help. So hang in there and good luck!!!!!
fireatak 0 Posted March 22, 2008 I had to go thru a 6 month supervised diet with my doc. Met him once a month. He put me on HBP meds and a sleep study. Was on cpap for several months before surgery. Primery Doc wrote letter as well as surgeon, no problems. Had surgery last wednesday, feel great. Doc says I should be off HBP meds and cpap after 6 months. Note: the cpap really makes me feel better. I sleep and feel much better with it. Don't wake up 5 times a night. Valley Hospital, Ridgewood and DR Davis is awesome!
