Personal Trainer

Recommended Posts

I'm so excited. I am signing up with a personal trainer tonight. The exercise is really going to boost my weight loss and knock off the inches. I used to work out with a trainer 5 years ago. I worked out with a trainer for all of 2002 and most of 2003 and still couldn't lose weight. I did lose inches and really was more toned. I can't even imagine how the weight will fall off now that I have my eating in control.

I can't wait for the pain!

My trainer took measurements last week and the results were great! I lost a total of 13 inches in just over 2 months. I am so excited. It makes the hard work worth it. During that time I also lost 13 pounds. My lean body mass slightly increased and my fat decreased considerably. My overall fat % dropped 5%.

It is so nice to see results other than scale, especially since the scale has slowed down so much.

Skinny Jill-

That is awesome. Sometimes measuring in other ways helps when the scale isn't moving. What is your routine with the Trainer? I am curious. I just started Water aerobics about a month ago and love it. I actually get cranky when I can't make one day. I am hoping for the inches as well. I have noticed inch loss though. Keep letting us know how it is going.

Hi Cindy,

I love my trainer. I work out with him 2 days a week. I try to do cardio on my own but I am not getting enough in. I walk my dog and that is about it. I can't seem to make myself go to the gym unless I am meeting the trainer. Maybe I will try Water aerobics. I will check the gym schedule and see when they offer it.

I'd go to a trainer, if I could find one that I liked. Most of them in our area seem to be pretty green. I thinks Biggest Loser inspired a bunch of people to be trainers.

I'm AM getting pretty addicted to the eliptical trainer (doing about 300 cals a night now). And I LOVE weight lifting. So, I've got muscles popping up under the flubber, but I am still waiting for the scale to drop.

In due time, I suppose.

Great work Skinny Jill and Cindy.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
