I know I was getting plenty of Protein. That's something I have always been very careful about. Dr. Watkins who used to post on Lap Band Talk, said it's from rapid weight loss. I lost 22 lbs the first month and 13 lbs during the 9th month.

I did everything everyone told me to do. Make sure I was getting enough Protein, took Biotin and good Vitamins, etc. I think it just stops when it decides to. You can do a search on hair loss and see what everyone else has tried. Everyone pretty much decides that it stops

when it wants to.

Ugh... so not protein.... Find any other possibilities? Now this is something I'm concerned about...

I'm so confused about my hair loss. I lose weight very sloooooowly... like 4 pounds a month maybe, give or take a pound... I always choose foods high in Protein, though i don't count the number of grams per day, it's got to be around 65 grams per day at least... I take Vitamins and eat foods high in natural vitamins/minerals..

I wouldn't mind the Hair loss (as much) if I was losing like 12 pounds a month or something, but when you're losing slowly AND losing your hair, it is very frustrating!

I'm glad that everyone who's experienced hair loss says it comes back, that makes me feel much better!

yes, it's very frustrating. I was just starting to not lose as much, and it started up again. When I counted back, it was from Sept. when I lost

13 lbs. The docs all say it starts the 4th month after surgery.

I was told that Hair loss is from the stress of surgery.

Whatever causes it I want it to stop...I dont have that much hair to lose. ack!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
