Recommended Posts

:confused:Soooo- i was banded on 2/27 and I am 3 days away from eating 100% solids- and today i messed up.. I had a bite of chicken that i made the the crock pot for my husband- it was already so soft- and i chewed it until it was liquid...then i had a 1/2 a crossiant AND i had a egg white cup (with spinach) :o My doc has put me on 100% liquids for 21 days and then i can go on 100% solids. I dont feel sick, and i didnt feel uncomfortable... i dont plan on straying from my liquids again until wednesday when my 21 days is up... do you think i did any damage???? I hate admitting this as i type but it makes me realize that what i did was wrong......any advice?

I was on normal food by weeks end.

Some docs say eat what you can tolerate, as did mine.

No worries. If you could diet, you wouldn't have gotten the band...and your doctor knows this.

Just take it slow when introducing foods to your band.

You are fine. I am really glad the food went down okay. That is a very good sign. Just stay on truck until day 21. You haven't slipped your band or anything as you don't have restriction yet. Good job getting back on track and being honest. I did the same thing early banding.

I ate some solid foods before the proper time period and I did just fine as well.

Just remember to always chew your few well are you will get uncomfortable in a hurry.

You are like me. Soda is my vice in life. Pepsi, at that. After surgery that's what I wanted. But nope while in the hospital. I finally had some Pepsi by day 4. And it foamed up. I did the ice thing...nope, still foamed. So I got Mt. Dew..... the rest is history.

I go thru about a 2 liter every week. Packed with ice and use a straw. Some days I just drink off the top...like an ounce or two. But some days I drink several glasses.

Koolaid brand Orange coolaid.... I started using this and it actually satisfies me just as much as Mt. Dew. I use a 1/2 and 1/2 Splenda/Sugar mix.

Those who drink soda...just know that you'll still lose weight with the band...but your weightloss will be a slower.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
