Doctors Around Atlanta Ga

Recommended Posts

Has anyone used a doctor in Atlanta or the metro area? There are several and I would like to find a recommednation from someone other than reading a posting in the doctors office.

I am looking for the doctors experience and the ost of the procedure. I visited one doctors office and they seemed kind of pushy and I go the vibe that I my money was more important than me being a patient.

I am scheduled for surgery May 5th, 2008 with Dr. Ryland Scott at the Harbin Clinic in Rome. I have less than a month left on my 3 month pre-op diet sessions as required by my insurance (Aetna). I originally had gone to a seminar at Emory which was very informative. However, I live in Cartersville and the trip to Rome was much more convenient with traffic and all. I feel very comfortable with choosing Dr. Scott. If you want more, info PM me.

I had my surgery with Dr. Scott Steinberg with DeKalb Medical Center and I am very pleased with him. I attended seminars at Emory and at DeKalb and the docs at DeKalb blew my socks off with their knowledge, professionalism, approachability, etc. I had a hard time choosing between Dr. Menacherry and Dr. Steinberg. I would have been happy with either. They assist each other in surgery so you get both anyway.

Hi, I was given the number today to contact Emory and I was put on a waiting list that's a year long. I became unable to work as of 2008. 2005 I had a total rt knee replacement, diaabetes/2, h/b, and as of 1998 35% blockage to my heart from ingesting phen fen in 95/96, At age 13,I began yoyo dieting to look like those models of the 60's to only kill my metabolism, I'm sure for now at age 60, I can barely walk for panting like a train. How do I get the help I so Need?

I would definitely check some other area programs. There are other very qualified docs in Atlanta area other than Emory.

I attended seminars at Emory and at DeKalb Medical Center. There are many bariatric Centers of Excellence around the Atlanta area. Try another. You might be surprised at the differences.

I was referred to Dr Champion in Marietta by my family doctor....she says he's done several surgeries for her patients and they have all been pleased. Since I've just started on a 6 mo monitored program for insurance, I have not yet met the doctor....but I have heard good things about him.

I am having my surgery done thru the doctors @ True Results in Atlanta. They are affiliated with AIGB. The doctors and staff are all extremely knowledgeable and answered every question I could come up with. I went in for my initital visit on Feb. 28th and am having surgery next tuesday. I've had an excellent experience so far.

My aunt and I both went to Atlanta Bariatrics. Dr. Hart performed her bypass 6 years ago and Dr Johnson did my lapband on 4/21. Both of us are very happy. I live in Douglasville and happily drove the 52 miles to his office for every appt...he's that good!

I do not recommend my physician...Dr. J. Barry McKernen in woodstock ga. Just do your research. Good luck. You won't regret the decision.

Dr. Scott Steinberg did my surgery on May 24th last year...I am extremely happy with him. Great doctor, personality and he is head of the Bariatrics at Dekalb Hospital. I have had 6-7 fills and Dr. Steinberg has done everyone of them and it took no more than 5 minutes to complete and he always does them under fluoro...he has never missed and is very accurate. Check his credentials. etc. He is absolutely the best...I think.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
