Up 5 Pounds?!?

Recommended Posts

What the heck?!? Up 5 pounds this week...no good reason, and the reflux (unfortunate, but explainable) reared it's ugly head last night. I'm gonna go crawl in a hole and try to remember all the reasons this is possible! And I'm not changing my ticker, LOL! ARRRGGGgghhhh!:blushing::ohmy:

Don't change it, Cindi.

Just watch yourself this next week and see if the scales move down a tad.

I went thru periods where my weight climbed up...but went down w/ 1 trip to the potty. It could also be hormonal.

If, and that's an IF....if the scales don't come down after a week or so or if they climb a little more, I'd get another fill.

So Sorry!! Don't have any good advice, just know it happens to us all sooner or later. How is your Water consumption? When I'm doing everything else good but still not losing water is usually what I'm lacking....seems Diet Coke isn't the answer!!

Thanks, y'all. I'll weigh tomorrow morning before I go in for my fill. Just agonizing to gain back all I'd lost in the last month! I feel like it might be too much salty foods, combined with a pretty severe week working out with the weights. If I exercise till I'm sore (which weirdly is my goal...it tells me I'm progressing), then I know Water hangs on to help heal & cushion the stressed muscles.

But 5 frickin' pounds!?!

Oh well...had a great weekend away, and will get back on track this week. I think I'll ask for .1 or .2cc's. Haven't had a fill for 2 months, and in the middle there at some point it was perfect. Now feels like I could eat more....meaning I'm having to stop me, not the band.

Will let you know!

Hey Cindi,

I don't really think you could gain five muscle pounds in a week, but I don't know for sure. Maybe talk to your trainer? Anyways, I think time will just take it off again. You're working so hard and we all know that pays off. I wish I could have some of your umpppph. Hang in there.

Shawn

Sudden weight gains 99.999999999% of the time are just Fluid fluctuations. It's weight gain, not fat gain. And fat's what we really care about, right?

Salt is the false fat...In order to gain 5 pounds of fat overnight you would have to consume 17500 calories over what you burned. I don't even think that my 3 supersized mcdonalds meals 3 times per week added up to that! I was up several pounds one week, and realized it was because my salt consumption had increased. Hope everything went well at your fill

Thanks, Shawn! 5 pounds of muscle, I wish! LOL! I meant to say that I'd stressed the weights so heavily that I was retaining water-weight to cushion those aching muscles. I have more obsession than umpph lately...I really want to eat what I want to eat, and then over train in the gym, which is my "quasi" trade off, with benefits

You're absolutely right, Wheetsin! But when that weight gain is staring you in the face, it's very hard to be rational. Sigh.

Salsa, you crack me up...how funny! I used to do the drive thru, and haven't in so long. My weakness was the filet o fish and the hottest, greasiest fries available! And those 99 cent double cheeseburgers. Just typing it now makes me wanna choke! I think you are right also. 30 lbs. ago my rings were loosening. For a few days here, they wouldn't spin.

Yep, t'was Water weight, and it went away by this morning! I did get a small fill, .1cc. I am leary at this high level, but wanted more help from the band as my willpower and choices were starting to slack. If restricted enough, my choices don't include 'bad' ones.

Thanks to all for holding me up thru this rough spot!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
