Recommended Posts

 I just went from full liquids to soft food this week and I gained 3 pounds this week. What did I do wrong? Is this normal? Has it happened to anyone else? :confused2:

Sure it is. And yes it does....more than you know.

Full liquids to soft....hmmm... does that mean you've not gotten a fill yet as maybe you are recently banded?

If that's the case...you aren't supposed to lose a pound until after you get restriction...as in 6weeks plus 4 weeks, plus 4 weeks out. Whenever you get fills that gives you restriction.

If you have lost weight before restriction...you are lucky.

Wow. Good for you! Many do not get restriction just by virtue of having the band implanted.

You are off to a great start!

Don't worry Tlynn. You are just starting bandster hell. Something we almost all have to go through..The time between starting to feel nowmal and our fills. The hungrey demons come around in full force!

This is quite common . Just try and stay on 1 cup of food 3x a day, Protein and vegies. You will start to lose weight once you start getting fills. It may take you several fills to reach optimal level so please be patient. I gained 7 lbs one time in between fills so it is quite common. Good luck.

I was banded 3/4 and started mushy foods last week. Already I'm sick of bananas, oatmeal and tuna. I feel like a monkey I've eaten so many dang bananas! Not to mention I'm so hungry that I could eat a house built out of chocolate and ice cream. I haven't gained weight but I've stopped losing. I was losing about 2 lbs a day and now I'm at a standstill. I want a fill now b/c I am sooooo hungry and Water just ain't cutting it. Hmmmm...I wonder if Vodka is considered a "clear" liquid!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
